setting drag on abu garcia c104i spinning reel
hi all,,
just got a new st croix mojo bass 7'mh fast with a abu garcia cardnial c104i spinning reel with 8/30 braid spooled on it. question is what is the best way to set the drag so not to damage the rod or reel and not loose fish? |

Hey MB Are you fishing for musky with this setup? The mojo can handle it but I'm afraid your reel can't hang. The reel "says" it has 14lb of drag, sounds a little optimistic to me. Anyway there are lots of scientific approaches to drag setting, forget all that, just tie your line to something stationary...back off about 30-50 ft and PULL....then tighten and loosen the drag until your confident you can get a good hookset...turn a stout fish...and still not rip the guts/gears out of your new reel.
