We Know Nothing!!!!
I pounded the shore today with all of the knowledge I have gained here, I fished deep with all the knowledge I have gained, I even threw a Reb-original into timber on the wind blown bank! I caught nothing...
So junior gave up the pursuit of the elusive largemouth and began chasing sunfish and perch on a bobber and nightcrawler. Since he was throwing under some overhanging trees I was pitching it for him to avoid hanging up for the hundredth time.... He lands a couple perch and a some sunfish and on about the 6th cast i throw for him... BLAM! 18 inches long and 13.5 inches in girth.... that's right on a nightcrawler, bobber and #6 trout hook... Bad father that I am I landed it instead of handing off to junior! So I ask you what good is all the knowledge we possess if I'd been better with a bobber and a worm? No picture Mrs. BH had the camera at a b-day party with my daughter...

Maybe that's why live bait isn't allowed in most tournaments......

I got to the lake and worked the only thing I could, my renowned drop shot... The two guys fishing next to me were bobber/worm fishing. I just knew inside I was going to get smoked as I mentally kicked myself in the rear a few dozen times. They both limited (5 fish, trout) in about 40 minutes and left. Despite keeping the bait as close to an earthworm as possible, and adjusting my worm to the approximate depth of their worms, I couldn't even get a beggar's nibble... Please, something bite my line, even a blue gill... Please! Every time I heard their trout rustling inside their pastic walmart bag, it irked me beyond belief. I called it, worm and bobber were the ticket, and I left them at home. I feel your pain. -ib

Going back to the basics for me is my new trend. Your not fishing tournaments so what the heck. If there biting live bait i say go for it. I keep a couple of 99 cent beatle spins in my tackle bag. Why they do catch panfish. They will reap havic on bass in ponds as well.

When the fish donīt wanna bite your ordinary baits itīs time to change for the ol reliable: in-line spinner
Itīs ainīt a "proīs" weapon, but it shure catches fish. |

The biggest "documented" fish to be caught in my lake is a 12.5 lbs'er caught on a missouri minnow by some kid speck fishing off the bank.

Theres a picture of him at the local tackle shop. The fish is as long as he is tall. It really is crazy. Im 30, and Im stuck at 6 lbs 4oz (although, really was a salt water guy untill the past few years). My fishing buddy is 40 something, he's stuck at 9 lbs 8oz. This kid throws out a minnow, catches a 12.5 and he might be 7 years old.
