The % stuff was kind of a pain the neck, but made I think it made it fair. I'd participate either way... total weight, or closest percent!

You know I'm willing to donate to any cause.

Personally I think the state record % is the absolute best way to keep the contest fair PLUS....who's going to invest more if your chances of a victory decrease. Even with all the confidence and multiple BOWs, I'm still shorebusting and even I would have to maybe rethink just straight 'big fish'.
Now add the Texas and Florida and California waters.....?????
I as well as many others don't have access to these type of waters.

I think the way Mike set up last year was GREAT!
If you folks want to up the ante, no problem what so ever.

I'm interrested for sure as long as it's handled the way it was in 2012. It was a fair system for everyone. I'd still mandate a photo of the scale reading and the fish as was done last year. I do know it was fun to add that bit of incentive to the years fishing!

I am in and like last year $5.00 and the % was realy fare did not entire anything becouse the were smaler then dinks. Just let me know when and where to send the check.

In our kayak tournments..We only only go by length,not wieght....So like 84'' would be a nice limit of bass etc....Photo of the bass (mouth closed/no pinched tail) on a visible ruler showing the entire bass and numbers on the ruler...plus the identifier

Its works great and fair for us..But we all use the SAME ruler (Hawg Trough) to avoid discrepancies....

Just a thought.

I'm gonna run this idea up the flagpole here and see if I can get anybody to salute.

Last year we had 18 of us ante up $5. Participation was less than stellar with only 4 or 5 of us posting entries. I have got to believe that it costs each of us at least $20. just to go fishing for the morning, more if you figure in gas-food-drinks-lost tackle etc etc. So I propose a $20 ante.

IF only 18 of us play this year thats $360 that would be a good payout even for some of you guys here that are flush. However I've got to believe when people start doing the math we could easily end up with maybe 30+ entries = $600+ I understand that $20 may be "too rich" for some peoples blood but by the same token we'll pick up some guys that had a hard time getting motivated by last years $5 game.

Also I think it would be cool if instead of a cash pot maybe we could do something special and more meaningful than a cash payout. I think having one of the guys here who builds Custom Rods commissioned to build a special rod for the winner? I've won plenty of cash contests in the past and I couldn't tell you where that money went with a gun to my head, but I've won tangible stuff that I will treasure forever.

Finally please feel free to pan this idea if you think it's no good or too much or whatever, I just think it would be fun and something lots of us could enjoy.

To be quite honest if this was someone else's idea the first and only negative that comes to mind is that with a pot that size there may be those among us that might not be good candidates for the "honor system". I certainly don't want to start something that might create discord and hard feelings amongst us, when the whole point is just a friendly game.

$20.00 is a good number. now what if we used whatever amount of money for the winner to have the ROD made? or something like that. rod for first place, and IF there is any left, remainder fo rthe money for 2nd place and POSSIBLY 3rd place. in most every tourny there are 3 finalists. jsut another kink in the plan.

Now the Rod idea is got my backing.
This is the neat part I think.
If the winner wants more 'pole' then he and the builder can figure the extra cost and the winner pays the extra.
