The Ol Shimano V-mag.
I have replaced many a reel over the years. But i still have my first serious baitcaster. It just won't die. Part of me says retire her. The other part says if she dies let her be doing it catching fish. It's my favorite crankbait reel & my #1 go reel for cranking. I baught her in 1987. She get's more use than any other reel i own. I keep her lubed & clean. Do you have & old real in your arsenal that you still have a love affair with.

I don't, but I now my Dad has reels that possibly are older than me (39). Although in recent years he has sold much of his equipment....

This is a love story of my Dad - and his sweetheart - an old Abu 5000 C Grey Reel. It looks very similar to this reel in the pic.
He purchased it sometime between getting back from Vietnam and before getting married, so I reckon we are talking early 70s. Its still his primary reel. I use it from time to time and there is a reason nobody makes fun of Abu's For Life advertising campaign - this reel is still better than most being cranked out today. He bought a Diawa Millionare around the same time, and although it keeps popping back up in the boat on a Lews speed stick, its a peice of garbage by now. As for myself, I have a Morrum 5600 that I plan on keeping as long as it stays in good working order - and it has been very durable so far.

yes i do moose. the first abu mag I that i bought over 20 years ago. still use it too. "ol' faithful". never gonna retire her. catches too many fish for me. bought a new abu and still haven't gotten used to it yet. the second reel i got was the 2nd generation of the mag force reel. it broke, sent it to be fixed, they "fixed" it alright. it is still broken. gonna find a local reel mechanic. that way i can SHOW them what it is supposed to do and not do.

Yep-an old Abu 6000C. Had it for probably 30 years and it is still going strong.
