Default Anticipation of the Worst Kind

Gawd...Waffle is building me a custom drop shot rod and waiting for it is killing me!

It's going to be 7'6", built on a M-XF Phenix UMBX blank, with a split grip, Aero Comfort spinning seat, EVA grips, and Recoil guides.

My Pflueger Patriarch 9530 will finally have a suitable home. I just didn't have the heart to put it on my Vendetta.

If you can stand to use a drop shot rig in deep water you can wait a bit for the rod, just act like you just tossed out and start counting.
All good things in life are worth waiting for, some we just wish we hadem sooner is all

Bwahahahahhaahhaahahaaaaaaaaaaaa. NFE has been bitten. Suffering along WAITING is sweet torture, but will not be as sweet as receiving the rod in November when it's too cold to fish with it. Waiting another 4 months will be even more torture. You'll only be able to fondle it and play with it, which is only foreplay compared with actually putting your rod to it's intended use.

Congrats Bryce, Nelson will do you right. Enjoy all the pics of the rod in progress. He's good with the torture and tormenting his customers along the way during the build. Enjoy, I know I will KNOWING what you're now going through. Suffer baby, Suffer.

That will be a sweet rod Bryce. I am curious what made you want a 7'6" rod for drop shotting? Not that there is anything wrong with it but I have only seen 7' rods used for shotting and I am wodering if I am missing something.

I just figure...how could an extra 6 inches be bad?

But seriously, I'm a tall guy, and it just feels right when things are "to scale", if you know what I mean.

And that blank seems like it was born for finesse fishing. Getting a XF tip on a M rod of that length is pretty extraordinary. Let's just see if it lives up to its hype.

Sounds good, but you should've sprung for the new K2 blanks.

Man...those are expensive....twice as much. And yet, they are only a fast action. I'll stick with the UMBX.

I've heard a lot of great things about the UMBX blanks and even the rods themselves. Whenever I get enough spending money to afford a custom, I'm having Walker build it on a Phenix blank... Now, if I could go a few months without having to buy text books, new brake pads and rotors, pharmacy organization dues, etc., etc. I could afford one.

congrats bryce. having "fondled" one of waffle's rods a twheeler i can only smolder in aingst.

now as for the "to scale" thing. that is truly interesting i think. and so.......kory needs to go to mini rods now huh? hahahaha!!!!
but seriouly i like that bryce. getting a rod that is "to scale" is a new way to think aobut ones next rod purchase.

Boy oh boy Bryce, your gonna love that rod for sure! Can't wait to see some pics of it when they become available. Something to think about while your clearing snow this winter. The "built to scale" thing is a good idea. When I met KVD we discussed what would make an ideal pitching rod for me. The length of the rod he suggested for me which was 6'10", he based on my height. So I would assume there is something to that. If your rod is half as nice as the one I handled at Wheeler, I know you'll be a happy customer.

Can't get me off your mind, huh?

I know, we're easily confused.

But it IS brYce that is getting a new stick. I am waiting to hear how he likes it. I prefer spinning for dropshotting, but may try a casting rod if he likes this one.

You talkin' to me? YOU TALKIN' TO ME? You threw me when you said "like the Patriarch" when asked about the color scheme. The Patriarch casting reel is a lot closer to chrome (and I know you own one) than the spinning reel of the same name. I thought you might just be NUTS enough to dropshot with a casting rod - some do. I didn't associate a color "match" for a Patriarch spinning unless, possibly charcoal (and I didn't think you had one of those, making me jealous again). My bad, sorry for assuming you're one of the NUTS but I'm sure many will agree that's an easy mistake to make.

I don't think that's a good set up. But from one engineer to another, I'll do you a favor and take it off of your hands.

Just reading the specs got the bait monkey rattling his cage. That will definitely be a suhweeeeeeet rig. Post pics when you receive it.
