Keeping him in my thoughts today and the weeks ahead. Tomorrow morning he'll wake up and say "what the &%#@ did I do?" The day after will make you question your choice, but it gets better each day thereafter. I had both of mine done, several years ago. The techniques are better today than only 5 years ago. Donald will be looking at loosing that constant pain now. The next hurdle is therapy - yes it hurts too, but doing it is the key to getting the knee healthy. Good luck Donald, I know you'll be much happier in just a couple months, just remember it does get better each day moving forward.

Had mine done as well,it all somewhat depends upon the individual and as to how long they waited to actually do after needing it,constant pain isnt a quick loss but a gradual one.Recovery yes is tuff love, but the sooner flex is gained the better.
Use of a cain for a time is normal, and getting rid of a foot control troller is almost a must.
Hand control with a foot on off switch is much better suited in waters that pitch one around .
A good healthy attitude also helps in that respect he is ahead of the game.
Do your pt work, boat seat is waiting not 45 min away, for when you desire to go out.
First trip ill even come n get ya,goes boths ways you have to put up with me and have no way back except with me.
So sort of stuck with whatever comes out of it.

'mule - I don't have any trouble with a foot control t/m, but I did add a recessed pedal tray. That makes all the difference in the world.

Donald, best wishes for a speedy recovery. My folks both had replacement hips done, and it made all the difference to them. My mom is really active now, as before she was always in pain.

I hope the procedure goes well and you have a speedy recovery. When my father in law had his knee replacement, he called the physical therapy people the "wicked witch!" I thought it was nice of him to say "witch" and not.....well, you know what I mean.

Heard from Don today. The surgery went well and he's resting fairly comfortably. The pain meds are working well. He will be in the hospital for about 7 more day. I told him to enjoy the nurses while he can.
