I heard rumors that a famous catfish guide from Maryland was going to be there telling fishing narratives, anecdotes, and accounts that may be slightly exaggerated or possibly fabricated. Any truth to that???

I love the stories myself. The best part is not knowing the embellishments. They are part of the Legend.

Should be a great show. Last year we had 2' of snow on the ground and they barely got space plowed to park the cars. This year they have the parking lot paved and a couple guys on call to move snow but it looks like it'll be great weather. I had a very good show last year so hopefully this year is a repeat!!!
Mike - you wearing your Bistro Mario Batali Editions to the event??? |

You guys should have seen his excitement when he saw the container full of poppers!!! He started dancing, twirling, and giggling when he spotted them. When asked the price for them I referred him to the Major who was selling the baits. He excitedly skipped over to him to see if he could purchase the lot. When he got the price he began bouncing up and down in excitement. But when he spotted the one bait. The one he'd been looking for his entire life he emitted such a squeal that 7th grade school girls in NC heard him. Yes he had found the one bait that would make his life complete. The one and only elusive pink popper was included with the rest of the baits.....or was that bubble gum???? It was a great weekend for deals. Got some Tru-Tungsten flipping weights discounted to $2.50. Heard that more were sold for $1. Picked up a new LC Fat CB BDS for $7. Saw a used Acu View for $35. All kinds of deals for used rods and reels too. Picked up a combo for $15 for the high school kids I sponsor. Great deal for one of them. Monkey was really beating on me. Tough to walk away from some of the tables. Need some plastics??? Check out Potomac Mix tackle!!! 6 and 8 foot tables of hand poured plastics. Biggest Stick baits I've seen!!! And he had some 16" worms too! |

You got a sweet deal on those poppers. I still have a bunch of the Major's crankbaits that I haven't sold yet. He bought a nice combo with the money he made on the baits that I sold for him. He won the Ardent Kistler combo that the kids were raffling off too.
I dare you to post a picture of that special bait that you got...... |

I spent many summers down south and enjoyed all the southern hospitallity. One summer while hunting dove with 22 shorts a gent asked if I could rid the stables at Rosecroft of rats. I said yes and he offered 2 bucks a rat. The next day I set up a stake down set of feed corn out in the lanes between the stables. At dawn I scoped and killed 78 rats with my target 22 and hollow points.
I got 200 bucks from the guy and two more summers of Rat killer deals. With that money I bought a Terry Bass boat. My Dad to put a hitch on his suicide Lincoln.. Capt Mike
