Default Don't it figure?

"Twas the day before sunday
An' out on the lake
Was a bass club just fishin'
For bass fishin's sake

Everyone knew
As the bass boats were boarded,
This tourney don't count-
No points are awarded

The blast off commenced
In a hard driving rain
In a quest just to answer
Which anglers would reign

Though the weather was cold
(We had plenty of warnin')
Everyone wished
For Al Gore's global warmin'

No wave rats were out
Nor those huge house-boat wakers
Just miles and miles
Of green, two-foot breakers

So, we drove to a cove
Where the wind would abate
In the hopes that the bass
Would partake of our bait

Well, the fish were not bitin'
So we thought we'd depart
But the #@!?* motor
Wouldn't @$#!??&# start

So, of course, at that moment
Against nature we're railin'
When the skies opened up
And it began hailin'

Well, the wind began howlin'
Much worse than before
And those cute two-foot breakers
Seemed closer to four

We thought we were screwed
With no chance for a tow
We thought that our future
Was row, row and row

But, two friendly young fellas
Arrived with a charger
I tell ya our gratitude
Could not have been larger

So, we jumped out the cell
In the wind, hail and rain
But, the motor cut out
When we tried to reach plane

This poem draws long and
This rhymin' grows borin'
I think I can hear
Some of my BF friends snorin'

If anyone's int'rested
And not too hard-hearted
It took three hours to troll
To the place that we started"

Don't it just figure?

Thanks, C-Rig. I just sent you a PM, too. I was NOT fun, to be sure. Could have been worse. The crazy thing was trying to keep the boat from slamming into the dock. We had to pull off the dock until the wind let up a little. Ah, everybody's been there, I imagine.

Sounds like you had a Murphy's Law day. Had a few of those myself.

Hey, Lunk- It happened yesterday on Smith Mnt. Lake. Mr. Pig's Wild Ride. I imagine everybody here has a similar story... Reb's right- I gotta laugh a little now, but Murphy was all over us that day

Relaxandenjoy- Welcome to the forum! Glad you registered. It was similar to the other boat rowing incident... I hope there's no pattern developing

Thanks, Smitty... Naw. In fact, the "winning weight" was an incredible 6#. Toughest day I've ever had in a tournament. Boo-hoo, Pig, Boo-hoo!!
The cool thing is that it was just an open tournament for old and new members. Next saturday starts the points race... and it'll dang well be on then!

You're fishin' the wrong body of water. Check out the pics from yesterday's LAPR tournament on Anna on "Will spring never come".

hey pnj, I'm one of those Volvo workers on strike and yesterday while walking the picket line we started out in sunshine, then rain, then wind and snow it got miserable. We also heard somebody fell in Claytor Lake in that weather. Your are a brave soul being out on SML in that weather, I fish SML alot but not in that stuff , I'd rather walk the picket line. LOL

C-Rig, I know this Pig was askin' that very same question! I was drinkin' a Coke when I read that question an' durn near sprayed the keyboard!
Bcklash- I bet ya'll did get some weather. The NRV is pretty wild this time of year. I can tell you this, a few of the older club members decided to stay landlocked this tourney and I must now bow to a greater wisdom. To be honest, the weather did get worse than it was when we started but we all had enough warning. Watching waves break over the motor and getting pitched about ain't no fun at all. I was a non-boater and didn't have a lot of choice as to where I was headed. Next time, there won't be any crazy he-man garbage. I sure don't ever want to find out that the answer to C-Rig's question is "NOPE"!
