Default Classify This Bait!

I've had the Spittine Image since I was about 13-14, but haven't used it since then. When I did use it when I was younger, I would use it as a top water, jerk bait, or I would just cast it and reel it in. I still can't seem to figure out what it is. Is it a jerk bait, a wake/crankbait???

Heres a pic if it helps

Yep. C-Bird is correct. I've got several of them.

the spit n image has the same body minus the lip. it is a great topwater bait that you don't hear too much about.

Its truely a pain in the @ss to fish because the front hook constantly gets tangled on the line as you walk the dog with it.I have found use 14 lb test or bigger and a whole lot less effort in walking the dog, more like a slow lazy cadence and the spittin image is a fantastic smallmouth lure. Most of ones I have ,the finish is almost completely worn off and yet they still consistantly catch fish. C-Bird Ornament

You definitely know that bait well! I used to use it a lot, then I started relegating it to schooling bass activity! When they would be busting shad on the surface I would cast the Spittin' Image past the school and just crank and jerk as fast as I could! There wasn't a cadence at all just a fleeing action across the top. They would hammer that thing. It was too hard, as C-bird pointed out, to effectively walk the dog. I have Zara Spooks in about every size and color they made that did that ten times better!

As previously noted, the pictured bait is a Swim'n Image, which is classified as a shallow or super-shallow crankbait. It's my favorite in that category.

The Spit'n Image would be classified as a surface walker.
