Ive been reading the forums latly and desided I wanted a baitcaster for bass fishing and trolling for walleye so I got a im6 berkley lightning 7 foot medium heavy action with fast tip. and a abu garcia 2005lp reel I was just making sure this was a good setup for what i wanna do. Also what line should I get I was thinking maybe 13lb mono.

Welcome to the forum!

Not too sure about trolling-not done in my neck of the woods-but it looks like a great setup for bass fishing.

For line I've found 12 lb is a great all-around line test. Can't say I've seen 13 lb, but that doesn't mean it's not out there .

I ment to type 12 pound not 13 . but anyways when would a 6,6 be better than a 7 footer or when would medium be better than medium heavy?

I prefer a 6-6 to a 7 for most applications but I like a 7 for Carolina rigging and throwing big crankbaits.

If I'm throwing a treble hook bait I want it on a M action since it has more give to it but I prefer a MH or H action for everything else.

If I had to choose one rod I'd go with a 6-6 MH action-that rod is the best all around length/action for bass fishing IMO.

The rod that i troll with is 6-6 and i use a abu 4600 C3 because it holds something like 180 yrds of 10lb test and i like the round reels better for some odd reason.

i would use 15lb line,IMO. that rod and reel should be fine for jigs, worms, deep cranks, and spinnerbaits. you might want to add a 6'6'' mh and a 6'6''m,and then you can have differant baits on at the same time.

The outfit I use most often is a 6 1/2 MH casting rod with a Garcia Abu 4600C casting reel loaded with 14LB moss green line. I find this will take care of about anything I do except for finese fishing. I fish around a lot of heavy cover and the heavier line is needed. Especially working lures through brush and lilly pads.
