Default July 6th Report

What a lovery day once the wind settled down. We caught several pesky LGMouth on topwater. Had a two encounters with the infamous Potomac Pike.
At golden hour the fly rods came out and we scored many chunky LGMouth. Only one pic since the flash on the camera would ruin our night vision.

Capt Dave will post his report shortly. He did well too.

Two hits (no fish) in the first half hour seemed promising....well it wasn't. Got into the main creek to work the edges with a finesse swim bait and started to put some fish in the boat. At the shadow hour, it started getting even better. Many hits on the hollow body frog but, no hookups. Doubled back on the same patch of pads with a toad and finally some top water toad fish in the boat, .including quite a toad at the very end.

They bite on most nights for 30 minutes past dark. Then about two hours later they bite again. Tide depending as always. On lakes it can be three hours after dark.

Now I know why I didnt get bit much after dark until around 10.30 on those 6pm to 11 jar T.Also know now since one of your other posts why the pads turn yellow and some die back always thought since didnt happen every year was due to execessive heat in the shallows, apparently we have the same beetle.Just went out for a bit pads were more or less vacant and yes yellow and brown, out from them caught some short 12-14 in fish, nothing of quality but good news is some were resprouting like new plants but wernt.
