Default call it luck or call it gut feeling..

i don't care which but here is the story

i blew out the lower creek this morning air temp was 19 water was 46..i seen the sun beating directly on a mass of bolders near the dam. an area i have NEVER fished. i eased over and proceeded to catch 11 bass off those bolders on a jerkbait.. big fish was 3+ pounds..

i had a hunce and it worked out..i'll have to fish dat chunk again fer sure..

i used the simple winter fishing logic fish move vertically to feed and sun heats the rocks.. the water temp at the swamp ramp was 44 but when i got out in the main lake and in that section in particular it was 46-47..

it was a rather lonely feeling launchin out and running down stream and not seeing ANYONE...

WTG. boulders in the direct sun and water temps 2-3 +degrees above the main body of water should be a Bass magnet this time of the year. And so it was.

Glad you hooked up with some fish. My "gut feeling" tells me to stay home when it is that cold.

Rocks trap heat and work as heaters, the water around them is warmer by several degrees.
