Default The OFFICIAL Big Bass Contest Thread

Ok, time is getting short so let's get this party started.

Categories will be Largemouth and Smallmouth.
We can add Stripers if there's any interest.
The entry fee will be $5 (in baits) for each category entered

Contest will run February 1st through December 31st.
You may enter the contest as late as 5/1.
Biggest fish is the fish that comes closest, percentage wise, to it's home state's record.

Submit photos of the fish as well as an actual scale weight. I'm not going to require a pic of the actual weight, since it's not easy to do when fishing alone. A photo of the actual weight IS recommended though, just not required.
Please make sure the date is correct on your camera

Once the contest has run it's course, I'll get the mailing address of each winner, and pass that address on to the other entrants from that category.

List the categories you're entering in this thread.

I'm in for Largemouth.
Quick question for clarity. Who is considered as officialy entered? Just the people that say so on this thread b4 2/1? Anybody who wants to enter anytime b4 12/31? (new members?) Should there be an entry deadline like 3/1 or 4/1? Should all participants send you the $5 prize by a certain date and then when it's over you send the winner their prize sack? I know that's a lot of questions but better cleared up now than let confusion set in.

ken, I updated the original post.
We'll go with a 5/1 entry cutoff. Some may not start showin up around here, until their season is opening up.

We'll probably leave the sending of the prizes to each individual.
If you all send the prize sacks to me, I'm........

Mallen? Anyone seen Mallen?

I'm in for Largemouth and Smallmouth as well. Should be a good time, and now I have an extra incentive to catch some fish. (like I really needed any more)

Count me for LMB and carp!

Eventhough a snowball on the fire has more of a chance of making it, count me in the SMB too. I am willing to pitch a 5 to a man bringing in a kicker.

Kenny, if we send him our baits, he will disappear again for another year. Then we will be on to his little routine.

I'm in for largemouth. I'll pass on the smallies. Not much of a chance catching them around here. There are a few but very few. Should be fun! I'm looking foreward to seeing photos posted here as the year progresses.

Basically, you figure up your biggest bass' weight as a percentage of your state's record fish. So if your state record fish was 15 pounds and you caught a 7 pounder, your entry would be 46.67%.

I've never caught a carp in my life. Don't you use dough balls or corn or something? No, thanks....I'll stick to bass.

Well so far Michigan-Missouri-Pennsylvania-Ohio-Indiana(2)-Mississippi-Alabama-South Carolina are Represented with a whopping $5.00 on the table and gonads to match. Sure would like to see at LEAST 20 of us in "The Hunt For Big Fish" anybody out there from Kansas? Texas? Virginia? Tennessee? Wisconsin? North Carolina? Georgia? Florida? ....................?

Hey quick question, when I loose can I payoff in Money Order or gift certificate?
My experience has been that a person ends up paying as much or more in postage then the $5 dollars worth of baits.
This is just a question, NOT A COMPLAINT!
Oh and I'm working on Sammy....getting closer I believe.
ON WISCOSIN!

Joe in the latest Rasmussen Poll I currently hold a 12 point lead when respondants were asked "Who's probably going to win?". I would prefer to open a package with stuff in it and so would the monkey.

Is this your official entry? If so..what's your species?

I'm waiting on Sammy. You folks have seen how well I do at gambling.
I don't care if 'I' win, but I think Wisconsin needs a little booster after the Brewers and Packers humiltating defeats. Thats where Sammy comes in!
Is there really a carp divison?
Is there a Bluegill or Panfish division too?
Are there set divisions, for any type of fish or just certain ones?
Ken the short answer is yes, just need to choose species.
Can a person add a category after entering but before 5/1?
