I too have been catching them on buzzbaits till around noon , kinda like CRig. And Zooker is right about the trailer , last tourney I had , I easily lost 3-4 fish because of the lack of trailer hook. I use black mostly as well.

Yes many miss that, they tend to cancel each other out yet make a fair amount of commotion.
Even colored ones work on or under, watermelon being a hot springtime color, yes even the buzzbait deltas get painted, and yes they still hit them. The two opposing delta blades under the water almost disappear one seeing either the blade flash on the tips as each one comes around or the color.Small ones 3/8 can still be used on top fairly easily. As a lark made this up for pike or grass pike have yet to catch one on it yet have caught largemouth on it.Quite colorfull,I call it volcanic.

Black and or white work quite well. They have an oversize hook and never ever need a trailer hook.

Black, white, occasionally chartreuse or chartreuse/white and never, EVER without a trailer hook.

Lol, yes largemouth does look edible, made it with the intent to catch grass pike but apparently not that numerous here on ky lake.
And with an enlarged hook never ever with a trailer no need.5/0 on the 1/2 oz and 4/0 on the smaller 3/8,notice how far back those red hooks are .
