Default Product report

The Doug Hannon wave spin reel is good. My customers have beat on it and tried to throw loops and tangle it and wear the drag out.. So far the only issue has been the handle gets loose after two or three fishing trips. Sunday I pulled it from the rack on the boat and it had three loops hanging out from the top of the spool. I cast it hard and long and the loops where gone.
Got a skate at about 40lbs and the drag held up very well..Was able to crank down the drag and get the winged menace in quick.

Think I will buy another one.

Thanks Capt, I was wondering how that turned out, my fishing buddy just received one as a gift, I'll give him your review.

How much do they run and where can you buy them?

Nevermind. Found them at Cabelas.

Those skates are one hell of an animal. While in Alaska last year my dad caught one around 50-60 pounds and that thing came in like a piece of plywood. It took a good 10-15 minutes... Well, it didn't help that it was in 280' of water either....

I tried one at a show and it felt O.K., I didn't buy one. The round handle is a little strange at first but I'm sure I would get used to it. Not sure how it would feel when trying to fight a fish.
I was able to get a loop in one, but I tried real hard.
