Default a strike at stren super braid..

i was fishing the "secret" lake today with my lil brother.-the hooley wed- he swears by 30 pound stren super braid. secret lake holds some massive bass. we caught 9 bass i lost two on crankbaits. my bro breaks off twice in rocks t-rigging then he gets ahold of a pig in the 6-7 pound range. and the line breaks off a foot from the rod tip with about 10 feet of line out.. i caught one 5.10 on the lc d-20. he cussin up a storm till i toss him a reel with 20 pound calcutta braid he fished the rest of the day with out breaking off.. when he left to go home he said he going to get rid of the stren super braid.. i lost a lc d-20 to a rock.. looks like another trip to bps

Stren was the first braid line I tried. I really disliked it for various reasons. Then I spooled up with Spiderwire Ultra cast. I didn't like that either. Finally I spooled up with Power Pro and loved it. I've been a Power Pro fan ever since.

ok, so do you like the power pro zooker? i just got a couple of spools 20 and 30 pound test. or do you perfer the cajun red line? might get them as well. each of these have 150 yards. do i need to keep some of the old line on for filler? i really like my spool to be kinda full. well real full. nephew says too full. but it helps with my thumb control. also how do you tie the new to the filler again? sorry i fergit easy pal. got soo much going on here lately. thanks in advance pal.

bama, I use an albright special, and you don't have to use backing, but it will make those spools of line last longer.

Jim, I'd also like to hear what you think about that line. I've been looking at it in (i tihnk) 10 or 14lb test for dropshotting (mainline).

I use Real Magic, found at BPS. It sure is a lifesaver if I spool up a few days, or even minutes before fishing.

Switched to PowerPro from Spiderwire several years back and never looked back. PP is round, doesn't dig into the reel, and works as advertised.

Tex, if you like Reel Magic you'll LOVE KVD Line & Lure. The KVD is far superior to Reel Magic IMO.

I can never find KVD at BPS. Do they even carry it?

Not that it is going to matter too much as I am about to finish switching ALL my reels over to braid. But I will leave mono on my Ugly stick setup for crappie fishing. I am thinking about using braid up to the bobber and then use a mono leader from the bobber to the hook.

I have been using a uni-uni know for leaders on braid all year and I had one know break in a tournament on Sunday. Now I am not so sure about it, does anybody use the blood knot? Can anybody tie the blood knot?
We won the tourney anyway
