Default Texas-Rig Reel

Well, I got my rod today. It is a Falcon 6'10'' Low Rider, MH, Fast Action, Eakins Jig Special. I plan to use it for mostly all, (except flipping and pitching), Texas-Rig applications. Tubes, worms, creatures, lizards, you name, I'm gonna T-Rig it!

My question is, what gear-ratio reel should I look for to match the rod and fishing application? I will mostly be fishing things like docks, humps, points, weedbeds, drop-off's, etc. Nothing majorly nasty, but still could be trouble if you don't work them properly.

Thanks,

-Dane

Thanks!

Ditto on the 6.3:1.

I was thinking about the Shimano Citica. It has a 6.2:1, and it has a $30 rebate on it!

I'm gonna be using my new Daiwa Viento. I love the twitchin' bar. That's like the best thing in reel innovation since the spool.

That Twitchin' Bar seems sketchy. When I was testing it at Cabela's, it seems like it would not wind the "twitched" line back on very tight, such as it would when cranking a bait. It looked like a nice reel other than that though. I have my Daiwa Fuego on my Flippin' Stick and it is sweet! You should really check it out next time you need a high-speed reel!

Anyway, it looks like I mam going to be getting the Citica. It is originally $120.00 with a $30 Mail-in rebate good until April 30th. I rolled up my change and had $75 dollars, plus I'm working with Dad tomorrow, so I should have it in no time! BTW, that new Falcon is sweeeeet!!!

LL, it doesn't seem like that when there's no bait on it. Say you cast you bait out, snag, and break it off at the knot. Without your help, will the line wind tight on spool while cranking.... No. It's the resistance of the bait that does it.

I know, I just seem hard-headed when it comes to stuff like that!
