First MN fish of 2012...
We are up at our cabin for the weekend, and after doing yard work and other miscellaneous chores all day, I decided to go after some crappie from our dock tonight...even if it was cold and very windy.
I was using a pink & yellow marabou crappie jig (recommend by a fishing guide I know here on this lake), casting it out, and counting it down to various depths until I found some fish. I caught one crappie, and it was a decent one at 1lb 8oz, and lost another one that I think was a bit bigger. I also caught 3 "pesky" LM bass, the biggest of which was 1lb 15oz. There are still quite a few chores on the "to do" list for tomorrow, but I think I will have to try my hand at some dock-fishing again tomorrow night. |

Sounds like a good time! Congrats on the first fish buddy!
Can't say I'm the best crappie fisherman, more like a crappy fisherman for the pesky buggers. lol

Yeah, I'm a crappy crappie fisherman, too, but it's all I can legally fish for here for right now. Next time up here a couple weekends from now, we can also fish for pike and walleye. This is the start of our 4th year owning this place and it's only the 2nd crappie I've caught here, and the first one I've caught when I was trying for them! The other one was on a mag-sized Pop-R while bass fishing from the dock a couple years ago.
