Default Jays Sporting Goods can kiss my...

Been looking forward to their Fishing Days 2010 weekend long event for about 2 months.
Manufacturer reps on hand, sales throughout the fishing department yada yada yada...
Only ever been in their place once before, and I was on my way downstate so it was a quick run through. Figured this would be a great opportunity to check them out for real, while I waited for my reels to be spooled up (1 cent per yard).
What a waste of time. What few sales they had were totally lame. I even saw an 09 HMG for 129.99. Are you kidding me!? I bought 2 of em back in November for 59.99 a pop from Cabelas. When they were the current model!
After driving 88 miles each way, all I got out of it was my Pflueger & Catalyst spooled with 8# and 17# Trilene XL, respectively.
Sad thing is, I have about 800 yards of 8# sitting about 5' from me.
I won't be going back. Unless they shut the doors and hold an auction

Mallen, you should have told me you were going. Jay's is way over priced. To me it's a place to stop if you forgot something.

Now, if you are looking for guns they are a great place to buy from. They have great service and know guns both long and pistols well (my dad and I bought a few from there).

Come to Kalamazoo next weekend. It'll be worth it.

Haha. I still have Kalamazoo M-Tec nightmares.
I really was shocked how crummy Jays was. While I was waiting for my reels to be spooled up, I was gonna grab some tube jigheads (one brand-overpriced) and some bullet weights (one brand, unpainted lead).
I literally walked every aisle at least once.
Saw a Trokar rep and a Vicious rep. They both looked bored and lonely.
There were at least 50 cars in the lot waiting for the store to open. Wonder how many of them will skip it next year

Yeah, not totally wasted though I guess. I really wanted to spend time in their and gauge their store. Consider it gauged lol.
Oh yeah! I grabbed a slice of breakfast pizza at Ellens Corner store on the way down, and a slice for lunch on the way back.

Thanks, man, but it's all good. Got me out of the house, got me pizza......ok, yeah. It sucked lol.
But since I really had no idea on their store, better to find out now rather than later.
Still debating on whether to e-mail them on my bad experience or not. I probably will

I never went to Jay's mainly because I haven't been in that area much. If you are going downstate (eastside) it is always worth it to stop into Frank's in Linwood to see if they have any sales plus they have a pretty good selection. Also there is some discount place in Pinconning that is like a Dollar store for fishing. You never know what they will have but you can sometimes find some great deals. It is about 1 block east of the only stoplight in town right by the old Magline factory. one block east of 13/Pinconning Rd Exit 181 off I-75 and Franks is just about 5-6 miles south on 13.

I'm rarely in those areas, but you never know. Thanks for the info!
