Default my new setup!

its here! my st.croix feels so freakin smooth and light!!! but the stradic is pretty heavy, i dont know if i should use the stradic or the cardinal, which is 2wice as light... anyways, im so happy!!! nayone use either this reel or rod and got any notes to make about em?

Oh.. the st. croix is an avid series spinning, 6'8 medium action.

I have a st croix rod (baitcaster), but you have the spinning rod there i'm sure, you will get used to the weight. It's a top of the line reel, and very good rod, try the stradic for a while, if not happy switch. But, you got some nice gear there buddy. I would recommend about 10# test of your favorite mono to start. Now go catch em......!!!

That stradic is a rockin' reel! Try it out, it'll just take some getting used to.

what i've noticed about spinning reels is that you don't feel the weight like you would a baitcaster. I mean you can tell its there, but you're not necessarily holding it in your hand..so the weight feels different.

whatever you say. sure it wont affec tthe action? because i hold it behind the reel, so wouldnt the reel take out some of the vibration?

Cranky, I'd put the Stradic on it-a quality reel for a quality rod.

http://www.fish307.com/fish/ShimanoStradic.htm

nope there are 2 bigger sizes. the 4000 is heavier and holds less line, so i figured id go with the 5000

you hold a spinning rig behind the reel? I can't imagine that would be comfortable at all. The only way I've ever held a spinning reel is with the base of the reel between my first and second fingers, sometimes even between my second and third fingers. It allows for more sensitivity and control. Its also usually close to the balance point of a rig. If you don't hold one that way, I'd recommend it for you to do..it makes things feel a whole lot better.

are you kidding? thats the way i used to hold it, i just held it the way i castd it. but for some reason i thought i lost sensitivity. btw hooked into a big carp today, enver landed it though. anyways i guess ill go back to my old rod holding method
