I personally don't have one, but I have heard a lot of good things about them. Seems like a real good deal for the price.

Gotta remeber though, the actions on the shock rods are slower to compensate for the low stretch of braided line. So if you're not using braid, then you may not get good enough hooksets.

do you think these would be good for spinnerbaits? i am looking for a moderate fast mh actoion rod for under 100 bucks and haven't found one i like yet. i looked at the all stars but the guids suck in my opinion. i found a kistler for 150 but thats a little to much for me right now and need another option any advice.

lie bb144 stated, these are great rods. but you will need to use braid line in MY opion. so derrick, you might want to check out another rod.

I have both and prefer the lightning due to light weight.

I beg to differ, I hated mine, I used it for 6 mouths of agony. Not a sensitive rod, very heavy, and tip heavy too! Quote:

they shock rods have a slower tip. the 7 ft mh is a moderate fast. to allow for the no stretch of the line. |

i have to jump on the lighting rod wagon I have used mine for 3 or 4 years and have no complaints about it , at the end of the day a rod is what you make of it if you have the thought that it won't be the most sensitive rod then it won't be , but if you just go out and fish and ignore the rest you'll be fine .

Well, it ain't a St. Croix, but for a < $50 rod, The berkley lightning rods are damn nice. I have one of the 7' MH's as my second catting rod, and will only be likely to replace it with with another St. Croix.
I also have a 6.5 ML spinning LR and favor it over my Gander Mtn spinning rod

I have two Lightning Rods...and have zero complaints about them. They're not Rolls Royce rods, but they're not Studebakers either.

Can't really comment on the lighting rod asa I haven't used one enough to have an opinion. For me I like Quantum rods. Don't really see them recommended on here to often. So I may be alone in this recommendation, but for the money I think they are great rods. Like all rods there are differnt grades within the brand but even the PT rods aren't that high for the quality. I know that I'm about to "open a can of worms" as Zooker says but I think that they are as good (if not better then) rods that cost twice as much(other factory rods). However, I not in any way implying that they are better than custom rods that cost far more. But this is just my opinion. I also use the Quantum PT reels and have alot of confidence in this brand.

And before anyone tries saying that I am advertising a brand I'm not sponsored by any company at all. But I wish I was. I would love to fish for a living, that would be a dream come true.
