Default Hey Zooker-any recommendations for

fishing in a hurricane? Looks like we might be dealing with one in a couple of days. I'm about 150 miles inland, but if it comes in west of Galveston around Corpus Christi it could get real interesting around here.

remember reb a cane is a large low pressure system the bass bite like mad just prior to it. any thing that you can cast in windy conditions works well. the ole idiot bait would be my first choice..or a heavy weighted worm..

Anything worked for me when Dennis came around. Buzzbaits, spinner, worms, soft jerk. Anything and everything they could get their mouths on.

Yep. It is that dry, that's for sure. We also have to watch for twisters. Back in '88 Huricane Gilbert went into Mexico but it was so big we had a couple of tornados, one of which tore the top off the big VA hospital we have here. I'm going to hit the grocery store later and hunker down and ride it out. What happens all depends on where Rita comes ashore.

Fishing just before hurricanes move through is really good. You could use spinnerbaits, worms, buzzbaits, near anything and htey will bite it. I know form experience, fish while its cloudy and a bit windy a few hours before the fisrts rainbands come through, while the pessure is rapidly dropping. Can't beat that.

Dont know if you can cast in this one. Unless your like me and figure a way out. I have been saltwater fishing before with a tornado hitting down just about 100 yards from me. I laid down on the peir so I wouldnt get blown off lol. Its upgraded to a category 5 now and I am expecting it to get even stronger before it hits land. Reb I would advise that you get the hell out of there while you can........

I rode through Ivan and it was a cat.3 and that changed my mind for the rest of my life............... As crazy as this may sound I would forget the fishing trip and get safe. Maybe go somewhere where there is a lake and you can hit the water there.........

Not to worry, guys. I'm inland 150 miles or so, so no need to evacuate. Matter of fact a lot ot the folks evacuating are coming here.

Hey reb Charley was 150 miles or more till it hit us and it only started as a medium 4 and we had strong cat 1 winds here. It was crazy trees down everywhere. Board up if you can. And did you find supplies???

Loaded for bear, Christoper. Mow they are saying a little rain and 15-25 MPH winds-nothing major. It keeps tracking east, and the further east it goes the less we get.

Now the forcast is a 20% chance of rain with 20-30 MPH winds and wind advisories for area lakes. Reckon I'll stay home and watch football.
