Default Bad habits.....

I want to start cutting what I think is a bad habit. Here it is- whenever I go to use a plastic 90% of the time I grab a new one from the package. I think I'm wasting money and useable plastics. So I made a ziplock bag specially fir used plastics. Now here's my questions- what do you guys do with your used plastics? And what about powerbait? It is worth using again right?

Depending on the type of plastics, I will sometimes use them again. a big one for me since I use them a lot is senko type baits (I prefer YUM Dingers though). after they won't stay on the hook t-rigged, I'll keep them to fish wacky rigged.

Try gluing them back together so you can use them again, either with plain old super glue, or a dedicated soft plastic bait glue.

I've tried plain super glue. It gets hard, or at least the one I tried did.

Super glue makes them hard and brittle where it was applied.

Heating them is a solution but you get lots of finger tip burns before you get it right, painful way to repair a soft plastic.

The best soft bait repair glue is Mend It, it melts the plastic firmly holding both broken ends leaving them almost as good as new without changing the properties of the plastic.

This thread got me thinking. As someone who does not make his own hand-poured plastics, I wouldn't really know.

Could you just keep all of your ripped up plastics until you had enough of say, purple worms to melt together and repour into new worms?

I have heard of people on here that have done this, yes. I have no experience with it personally, though.
Just think of all the wacky colors you could come up with...mix a green pumpkin with a purple with a bubblegum, but don't mix completely... rainbow stripes!

i watched an episode of lunkerville were the guest was reusing his plastics in that manner . he would just fish them till they were worn out and then remelt and mold them.

even tho I have a ton of plastics, if I notice a rip in the worm at the end and where the hook cuts the plastic, I just nibble off a half inch and use it. I'm not to worried that the end looks flat where I have cut it off, plus you can get some mileage from your plastics. I fished on tourney on tanners creeks on the ohio with an older guy that had some welder hand held unit to melt worms back together.
The majority of guys I fished with in the past use one worm per caught fish.

We repair them at our place and as Kevin has stated many many times as an avid user of our products, keeping it on the hook with our product will not only prevent a lot of tears but keeps your plastics in place for presentation which is key to get bit. So,as a multi-use adhesive, you can use PSBGlue on any kind of fishing lines [won't weaken them but strengthens the knots], cork handles that may be delaminating, transducer braket mounts, pvc, rubber and most of all making different soft bait combinations as shown on our website including using feathers. Because of it's versatility, you'll find it in Gary Klein, Shaw Grigsby's tackle box and not to exclude Bill Siemantel which brought the CPR to our attention by placing PRO's Soft~Bait Glue on a gill plate hooked bleeding fish, has saved many a fish's lives that make the weigh in and then released.

We received a blog on this thread and thought I would post a note to you all.

Have a Great Labor Day!

Depends on the plastic. Some plastics can be used for things other than what they were designed for, even after the nose end is torn. Many make very good jig trailers.

I just buy another bag , some times I fish all day when the fishing is really
good and only use one bag of plastics I think that spending 3-5 bucks
is a good investment repairing plastics to me just is,nt worth the trouble
