Default Sick of winter!

Our region got blasted again yesterday. One town not far from where I live received 24 more inches of snow. It's -3 below zero right now and I am being pulled from the shop to work on the road the rest of the week. Tomorrows wind chill is supposed to be more than -20 below with 35-40 mph winds. And, the 10 day forecast for our area does not show a single day getting any warmer than the upper teens. This winter is plain kicking my butt. So far, we have received close to 50 inches of snow for the year. I worry about our local lakes. The last time I remember a winter like this was decades ago, and it caused a major fish kill in two of our lakes. With spring yet so far away, it's getting depressing. I think I might fire up the wood burner down stairs this weekend and start organizing my fishing lures. It will be a good distraction.

Winter here hasn't been as bad as Indiana, but it's been 3 years since we had one like this. We got "your" snow last night (only about 8") and this morning it was actual 4 degrees when I went out to clear the drive and walk, wind chill was -20, that's cold. Our snowfall this year is more than the last 2 combined, so it really seems like a lot, and our worst month for snow (February) is still to come, but so is spring!!

Sounds like our winter last year, Keith, so I feel your pain. On the up side for me here in southern MN, we've hardly had any snow so far this winter...probably less than 12" on the ground right now. I've had to shovel 1" or 2" quite a bit here and there, but that's easy, and I've only had to use the snowblower once so far. I'm sure we'll get our fair share of snow between now and April/May, but it's been good here so far.

The downside for me of course is our goofy closed bass season from 02/24/14 - 05/23/14. So it doesn't really matter what our winter is like since I can't legally bass fish in MN until 05/24. Depending on ice-out and my spring schedule though, I can always sneak down to IA to do my first fishing of the year there.

Glad we only got a few inches here. The temps were around zero though. Kept the heat up high to avoid the pipes freezing again. Hope your lakes survive the frigid weather Keith.

Now back to the Winter.

Like I always say, it's not the cold that bothers me it's....."THAT DANG HUMITITY!

In reality I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate ANY winter, but this one seams to really SUCK!!!

Some is how nice and warm the last Winter was.
Some of it is these every other day or day after day 1, 2inch snow falls.
Dean I know you don't mind the every day shoveling but give me a foot and then not snow for two weeks. Give me a foot.....
I have an almost 40ft drive way. I don't pull the snowblower out for less than 4in.
I VERY MUCH WOULD RATHER BE FISHING AT 5 IN THE MORNING BEFORE WORK THAN SHOVELING!

But the real killer this year is the dang wind.
Seems to be blowing 15+ mph EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Cold and wind just doesn't make it for me!
ZERO insulation on this little boy.

I can do the cold I can do the heat.
I can do the wind.
BUT WIND AND COLD I CAN'T!!!!

Well Dean at least you got the Girl Ice Fishing Team!
Man what a sport we LOVE! l

After reading all your complaints I feel silly being sick of our winter as well. Frozen pipes one morning and several days here the actual temperature did not make 40 with blistering winds. Woke to 10 degrees one morning. Not suppose to be this cold in Alabama.

I WANT to take that statement and run with it, but I think I'll just let it lie.

Oh yeah.....I'll take the girl third from the right, please. She looks small enough I could pick her up and.......
Ok, once again, I'm just gonna walk away.

Well today we are getting snow. Not a great amount but enough to snarl traffic and close most everything.
