Default 8 new Cabelas stores!

Between now and Spring 2013, 8 new Cabelas stores will be opening in the US.

Tulalip, WA
Union Gap, WA
Wichita, KS
Rogers, AR
Louisville, KY
Charleston, WV
Columbus, OH

And the one I'm really excited about, Grandville, MI!
The Dundee, MI store is 4 1/2 hours away. BPS is 3 1/4 hours away. The Grandville Cabelas will be 2 1/4 AND there's a Famous Dave's in Grandville

Grandville opens spring 2013, so I'm sure I'll be driving the monkey down state!

If you want to know when the different stores will be open, click the link.

I didn't see it on your list but I found out today that Cabelas broke ground on a new store in Columbia SC 2 weeks ago! Closer to me than BPS plus I fish Murray often enough to give me an excuse.

Odd....Cabela's doesn't have it marked on their map.
I just got off the phone with a buddy who lives very near the one going up in Grandville.
He heard about it on the news. Apparently, it's going to be a much smaller store than the Dundee store.
As long as it carries what I want to buy, even if I have to use ship-to-store, I'm all good!

Wichita store is scheduled to open up the 14th of March. Maybe they will have some good sales. We have a couple of Dick's SG, a Gander Mountain, and one independent bait shop in our area.

Ken, I thought you posted about an ACADEMY SPORTS breaking ground a couple weeks ago. Did Cabela's get wind of the competion and is out to kill the Academy store before it gets started?

I've got 2 Cabelas stores less than an hour from me. They have a pretty decent fishing selection and carry a lot of different stuff than BPS. To me, their prices are higher than Dick's, Academy, Gander Mountain, etc. but they definitely carry stuff that none of the other stores do. I have had really good luck finding deals in the bargain cave. I've scored a bunch of Lucky Craft baits under $10 and a lot of other stuff at way below retail. I've about gotten to the point where I won't pay regular price for much of anything. There are good deals to be had at Cabelas if you look.

I've also bought 2 guns and some hunting stuff from Cabelas. They have an excellent gun department and sale used guns too.

I heard about the one that is coming to Rogers AR a few weeks ago. It will be about an hour or a little less from me.

Well, the Columbus store will be about the same distance as Dundee store for me. And the new store is only 80,000 sq. ft. as compared to the 225,000 sq. ft. at the Dundee, MI store.

Academy's Grand Opening is in 2 weeks. The Cabelas location is just a bunch of wet clay and doziers. A trusted friend swears that Cabelas owns the property and is definately opening a store in '12. But after seeing Mallens link and comments, my nerves are shot....I won't be able to really relax until I get 1st party confirmation.

Looking at a map of their locations it seems they have no desire to be in the Southeast. If they do open a Columbia SC location it is going to be a distribution and logistical nightmare for them.

The more I think about it, this sentence begins to make a lot of sense:
"Elvis is alive, Wrestling is real, Sasquatch exists and Cabelas is opening in Columbia"

Very cool for you Mallen! I'm less than 5 minutes from one Cabela's (with a Famous Dave's just across the street from it!), just over an hour from another one that just happens to be on the way to our cabin, and there are multiple GMs and DSGs within an hour of us also. Just missing BPS as the nearest is 3 hours from here. I have a sister who lives 15 minutes from one though, so that works out well when we go to visit her.

Yep, and will probably take another shot at "winning the lottery" this weekend when my sister-in-law and her family are here.

I'm pretty luck to have a Cabelas, BPS, and Gander Mountain all within a short drive from my house. Cabelas is a 30-40 minute drive, and thats the farthest. We also have a Dicks, but it's a waste. They don't have much at all for fishing. Our BPS definately has the best selection of fishing tackle. But the Cabelas has some very nice stuff. I wish we had a Famous Daves around here, but I guess we can't have everything.
