okay this might sound dumb but how do you wacky rig a plastic worm... I thought I knew but I just read that you insert a nail into both sides of the worm which im nto sure is right but I think I should ask some people I know have soem knowledge about this

I know people who put nails in the ends of their wacky rigged worms. To much work for me. I just bend em to find the half way mark, put it on the hook and fish.

so you dont have to weight both sides of the worm? is it better if you do?

I never use weights when wacky rig fishing. You can buy jigs for wacky rig fishing, but then it's a bit different. I know they have a name for it, but I forgot.

so just put a hook through the middle of the worm? okay now that is solver.... how should you fish it?

I let it slowly sink to the bottom, and if you don't get a hit by then, slowly twitch the bait and let it set some more. Repeat back to the boat. I also sometimes put a splitshot about 18" up the line. and fish it the same way.

frogfisher- here's a tip if you're wacky rigging senkos, especially 5" ones- count two rings past the collar and run the hook through parallel to the bait. That's the center and the spot that produces the most action.

BB- the flickshake worm and wacky jig might be what you're thinking of. See "secret baits". Jackall makes them. There's another company, too, but I've never used theirs.

seeing how senkos arent the cheapest bait around, there is a way to rig a wacky senko and not lose it everytime you catch a fish. use a very small O-ring, or a piece of a straw( like from mcdonalds) cut into about 1/4 inch. slide it onto the worm just past the mid section. instead of hooking the worm, and losing it almost everytime you get a hit, you only hook the ring around the worm, and when you catch a fish, the worm usually ends up sliding up the line, undamaged, ready for the next victim. i would have never believed it either, but a tourney fishing buddy of mine pointed me towards it, and it works amazingly well.

Well, I don't know the availability of these, but for those of you kids with braces (or adults with kids with braces), those little rubberbands they give you to fix your bite work well too.

I've go tloads of them form when I had braces. I hardly ever wore them...

When you put them on the senko (or bait of choice) to you put then diagonalish across the hook?

Hey guys what I do on small ponds is use a trick worm from zoom, bite off the head just a little bit so that its flat No weight start to hook the worm Texas rig style, then slip it over the eye of the hook, and before you put the sharp end in twist the worm 1/4 turn, so that the flat edge of the worm is twisted like a candy cane. cast it out and let it sink just out of site and twitch it like a jerk bait, then let it sink again. works like majolica on small ponds!!!

Hey thanks guys. I recently discovered the wacky rig Senko and have yet to wear it out. I do lose a lot of the Senko's though.
Found the sweetest deal awhile back. I love estate sales and found one where the guy owned a tackle shop and passed away. His daughter brought all the old inventory home and marked it way down and had a yard sale. Senko's 1.00 for a bag of 10. My wife still can't understand why and how I got so many baits.

Now this is an interesting tool...but did anybody look at this and see you could do the exact same thing with the lower blank of a ball point pen?

Just a note on the wacky tool - if you're into putting 'o' rings on worms to wacky rig, it seems to me the lower portion of a ball point pen would work just as well.
