My neighbor went fishing on G-ville
Friday night while I was flying back from Chicago (7-23-2010)
and look at what he caught!! Gotta love that night time spinner bait bite! He told me that he actually lost a bigger fish. This one weighed 9 pounds 10 oz. Bama, it came from that same spot as the last batch of pictures I posted.

Holding it way out in front like that is deceiving since his hand is nearly as big as his head - but still a nice sized fish!

He had one of the kids with him who lives down the street from us. Neither one of them are photo savvy on thier own. I have tried many times to coach him, but I guess in the heat of the moment all that went out the window! lol I know we have checked his digital scales at a couple of tournaments and it was within an ounce of accuracy no matter what the weight. So if he told me the fish was 9 pounds 10 ounces that is exactly what it is. This guy is honest to an absolute fault! His hand would crush most normal guys, he hauls and delivers truck tires 5 days a week and has a grip that bring most normal guys to thier knees.

Well I changed my mind and it ain't going back to Florida. Instead I am going to save up a little more money and get it done right this time (should've saved money and had it done right first time). If you remember back in 2008 I saved up over $4 K and took it to NW FL Outboard Motor repair for a rebuild after I blew the engine. Did without the boat from April till the end of September. Got the boat home and during the breakin period I could never break the 2500RPM range. After another $450 with a local mechanic we discovered that the morons had the bottom four pistons reversed and the fuel and exhaust wasn't porting. So I took it back down to Florida and they fixed that problem (we're into Oct 08 by now). Well one fine Saturday night this past May 2010 I was idling through one of the marinas here on Lake Allatoona and it suddenly sounded as if someone through a handfull of pebbles into one of my cylinders. Right after that I lost compression in the middle cylinder on the drivers side. Well the dude tells me that I would have to pay half the parts and labor, bring the boat down there and leave it possibly 30 days. I found out today that I could have taken it to Paul Nichols Outboard Motor Repair up in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and got it done for $2800, using all Mercury parts and they would've bullet proofed it. Later today I found one of his close friends down here in Rome that he trust and I can take it to him. Jim Bob over in Rome will take off my power head, carry it up to Paul and get a guaranteed rebuilt power head, bring it home, install it and run the analyzer on the motor to find out why it failed for $2800 and have it back within a couple of days. If anybody keeps up with outboard racing, the name Paul Nichols should ring a bell! He is the guy that the factory racing team sends the new motors to when they want to tweak as much out of the motor as they can. He is well known, very good and turns out to have one helluva reputation for being a straightshooting, no-nonsense kind of guy.
Now you have the whole story! lol

To "do something" to the folks in Florida requires two things; money and evidence. When a motor fails it's usually pretty hard to pinpoint the exact cause unless it just plain downright obvious. The first part, money, is usually a pre-requisite to a lawsuit and a gamble to recover since you usually have to sue in the jurisdiction of the offense (local municipalities typically favor the local business vs an out of stater).
We'll see what happens, at a minimum I may make a claim in the Better Business Bureau. As for Guntersville, once my boat is fixed you'll see me on the lake a lot this fall. Going on a guided trip with a feller named Jo Jo tomorrow down in the Brown Creek area of the lake. A little feller I've befriended over here bought the guide trip and told me that I had no vote, He would pick me up in the morning at 3:30 and the answer "no" would not be accepted! LOL S/B fun, the guide claims that he is on a deep crankbait bite. We'll find out.

Bottom line is that we should have fished the mid lake ledges with grass nearby, and we fished deep rocky humps instead. Oh well, next time I will save my little buddy a lot of money and put him on more fish (once my boat is up and running again!!). WTL, ya gotta stay on the water well past midnight (all night to improve your chances)!
