Wonder what happened to him?
The bass in the first picture was sliced halfway around his body with the deepest part being in the belly. Propeller injury? I would expect it to be more of a chunk/bite rather than a slice if it was from another fish. There was no fight in him at all, he just allowed himself to be pulled in. Hungry though I guess.
The second picture is not very clear but look at how barely he was hooked. It was a good morning on the water. Used a new to me 6' shakespeare rod that I bought at a thrift store for 6 dollars. That made my day. haha |

Man no telling what did the damage...With all the things underwater (barbed wire, fence post, old line, etc) He could have gotten hung up and had to fight to free himself..But thats just a guess...Hadnt seen anything like that.

My vote is a Great White Shark or possibly a Orca.

Looks like a failed attempt at suicide ninja style to me! I'm going to bet he got tangled in some fishing line.

It's got to be from a Northern Pike. I see bass with marks like that pretty often in the pike infested waters around here. Saw one today actually!

Hmm.. beats me, I'm gonna say line. No bass is dumb enough not to move away from a propeller.

Heron ive seen this prior and have watched them take keepers, that beak pinches on both sides but often only breaks the skin on one, that one got away.
Here on ky lake a keeper is 15 in and they weigh a hair over 2lbs. When the pelicans come in the fall, ive seen them take a 3lber,be hundreds of the on the newly emerged islands at winter pool, for about two weeks then gone.Briefly appearing again in the spring but then father north in ky portion more so than down in tn. |
