Actually, it's some kind of silicone used to make sealing gaskets on motorcycle engines that my brother in law had. It's strong and seemed to grip the metal better than the regular stuff I was going to use. Don't thing it'll be as likely to be effected by the heat of the sun. Plus... it was free. lol

If it werent on the backside of the transom, the force of the water (should you put an outboard on it) would take the gasket maker right off. But with the places where you had leaks, it will probably be mostly ok, especially for a while.
If you do it again, 3m 5200 will solve your leaking forever in those locations. The boat will float fine, most of those places are probably above the normal water line anyway.

Thank you WTL. I thought about the motor vibration but we're not likely to put more than a trolling motor on it with the farm ponds we'll be fishing. Gonna be mostly paddles just to keep from having to register it.
