Not really a fishing tip, but when you are in it tie or strap everything down just to be on the safe side.

For the rod holders you can get either flush mounts or scotty's (both are easy to install). As for a fish finder you can check this site out, sign up and do a search (tons of info).

Holler if you need anymore help!

If your looking for a portable fish finder you also might want to check on the Bottom Line Fishin Buddy. I have it in the 2202 model and it works great!!!!! Its removable and really light weight. It comes with a bracket mount.

i have seen just about every depth finder mounted on a yak.. they either screw the transducer into the stern or the use it as a shoot thru..

my friend "lefty" rigged his like this..

his cart

how he stores the cart..

he also rigged a light mast on the crate. and a anchor rigging system. though i do not see it on the boat. i know he uses a 585 lowrance gps/depthfinder. runs off a small moter cycle battery..

don't laugh lefty is nuts and fishes off shore with this set up..

Let your buddy know that he can use 8 AA batteries (equivalence of 12 volts) to operate his fish finder for up to 10 hours. That will save him like 40lbs.

Kayakfishingstuff.com sells the kit.
