Day of Firsts

Got an el cheapo fly rod from my Mom for my birthday and took it out for the first time today, and lo and behold got my first bass on it. Nothing big but it put a huge smile on my face when I figured out how to actually make a cast go where I wanted it to go. Got him on a small fly-popper in white and it took me a minute to figure out how to get him in lol. I am going out again tomorrow to try some other fly's I bought at Dicks Sporting Goods and see if I can't upgrade the size of my bass on a fly rod.

fly fishing for bass is a great and fun way to fish. i got 3 rods in my boat now. haven't used them much yet, but i will. congrats on your first bass with a fly rod. now.....go get some bigger ones. haha!

Congrats! I know I will try fly fishing some day, but not now. I'm afraid I might like it too much and give up my conventional gear.

thats pretty cool man I have wanted to give fly fishing a shot for a while now but have yet to take it up. One of these days though I will get to it

Congrats on the first bass on the fly!

I've been saying I want to get a cheapy flyrod and give it another shot, but I never get to it. I always find something else I need (or want) more.

I hear that BB same thing always happens to me but I'll give in soon enough the boys are starting to be interested in it and that means we will be doing it sooner or later
