Default Tuesday on Enid Lake

Took yesterday off to go fishing with my good buddy Lynn. The kids were out of school for fall break so I was going to take them too. They were all gung-ho until 4:00 AM when I tried to wake them up to go. (One's 13 and one is 7) I couldn't get either one of them up so after about 30 minutes of trying I left em.

We got out on the lake and it it started out clear. Caught about a dozen bass in the 1 1/2 to 2 lb range on the main lake points in about 8' of water. Then a front moved in, the wind started blowing from the East and the fish basically shut down. We went in search of them and caught a few here and there but nothing spectacular. After a misting rain moved through just after noon, the skies cleared and the wind died somewhat. The fish picked back up but they were much deeper having moved to about 18' of water. By the end of the day we'd caught between 60 and 70 in the 1 1/2 to 2 lb range. The largest one caught was about 2 1/2 lbs. Perfect eating size. The surprising thing was how fat all the fish we caught were. They all had large bellies and fought like 3+ lb fish. It was a whole lot of fun. Here's a couple of pix of what we caught.

Thanks guys. Let's see, 4 kids and 4 grandkids, I think I'm on my way IN to the asylum. Yeah, we actually had 2 doubles during the day. That was pretty cool. Most of them were caught on 6" green pumpkin or blue lizards rigged Carolina style.

The fish were all schooled up together on the points that we found them on. It was crazy. I meant to get a picture of the fish finder but I forgot. If it was a point that had a brushpile or stake bed or some kind of cover on it that would hold bait fish, there were hundreds if not thousands on there.

We went together last fall at Enid too and caught 89 that day. Those were anywhere between 2 & 4 lbs with a couple of 5 & 6 lb'ers.

Congrats on the great day out on the water, and welcome to the forums. I can relate to trying to get the kids up to go fishing, haha I'm the only one in this house willing to get up before the crack of dawn.

Just doing my share to reduce the overpopulation of that size fish so that the one's that are left can grow big and strong. (We only took a limit home. The others went back in the drink with a story to tell their buddies.)
