Of course it a Premeir. best rod for the money. Fenwick is a close second with the HMX series. Im slowly gonna cull all my tackle to St. Croix and Abu Garcia or Quantum. I own 3 Croix Sticks, 2 or 3 Fenwicks and some filler type rods.

Good man, Power Bass. I too own four Croixs and two Falcons. Can't beat a Falcon for the price. Good rod...

As for reels, I am partial to Daiwa's, although there seems to be no median priced reel. It's either cheap or top dollar...

Depends on your definitions of 'cheap' and 'top dollar'.

I'd have to agree they make a top dollar reel though (steez). It's so light it's like you're not even holding a reel. I've never had the pleasure to fish with one, but I've held one before the baitmonkey drug my away to look at things I could afford.

I've heard the Revo's are great reels and would like to get myself one. My main priority right now is a Dropshot Rod and Reel. and after that... well... I'll let the future me owrry about that.

As of now, my Daiwa Fuego is my 'top dollar' reel. It was only a meager $230 compared to the Steez, but a damn nice reel.

My topdollar is my Viento. Love the reel and the Twitchin' bar.

PowerBass, as for the DS. I've pretty much already got my combo picked out. It'll be a Shimano Crucial DS Rod (7'2" M) with a Shimano Symetre 2500 spooled up with 8lb P-Line Fluoroclear. I'm using 6lb right now on my old Abu Cardinal and my dad's custom made Boron rod. Compared to the graphite rods today, those rods are so heavy. The 6' spinning rod is as heavy as my 7' Pro Qualifier trigger rod.

i had a steez i sold it on e-bay. they are light as a feather but the retrives are gritty and stiff. it was NOT smooth at all.. a very big disapointment..

I will agree with Zook, (even though i have never owned one), when i handled one at the tackle shop, i was not at all impressed with the reel... especially for $450!

Buzz, its Actually the Saturday before Memorial Day, not April 26.

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/dn...s_229756_7.pdf

And that motor limit is the reason why the boat we bought has a 15hp. The guy we bought it from used it on a 10hp limit lake. (it has 9.9 stickers on it)

You know the funny thing is zook. These kids complain allot about weight. Dam Pansies!!! Give me the good ol days when reels were haevy. You got your moneys worth. They were built like shermen tanks. No body cared about weight. I still like the Abu Garcia 5600, Or the Heddon Mark IV & Diawa Millionare. Many of these reels are still around if you look hard enough. There fairly cheap if found second hand. They still will be fishing the old girls well after Crap like this Steez is long dead.
