Dale Hollow Gathering
With all the talk recently about planning for the 2010 Get Together, I thought there needed to be more than one location for all of us to consider, so after searching the net, I came upon this fishermens haven on Dale Hollow in Tennessee.
http://www.starpointresort.com/home.htm What really caught my eye about this facility is their Lodge, which in my opinion would be perfect fit for our gathering. It consists of seven private rooms, and a large common room that everyone can enjoy together, so it would seem possible to reserve this facility for our own private use. I have attached a couple pictures of the Lodge and Common Room. I encourage others to voice their opinions, and even post other location options so that the entire Bassfishin.com body has a say in this great event. ~Mark |

Thankyou for taking the time to look into this Woody. We do need other options, opinions and information. We wont be able to make a decision until people get close enough to realistically say "I can attend this at that location"....

starpoint is the favorite destination for many anglers that go to dale hollow, we used to go to the south end at Livingston due to some family we knew that ran the marina there, the entire lake is really pretty. Hard fishing tho, I'd like to learn it now that I'm more seasoned than I was thirty years ago when we went in the fall.
Its about a six hour drive for me from dayton area, Ky lake is about the same, and wheeler is seven, so any of them is within reason, I told zooker a minute ago on the phone any of them in april or so would be killer fishing! get this..a three day non resident is thirty bucks, ten day is fifty. bout as bad as Ky.. LOL...whats the fee for alabama wtl? |

I had never looked it up before, its actually a little screwy.
Florida guys it will be $30 for 7 days. All other states $26 for 7 days. Wonder why we are sticking it to the Florida guys? Tebow? http://www.outdooralabama.com/licens...Rev14Apr09.pdf

This is the answer posted on their website Q/A.
Question: Do I have to have a KY & TN Fishing License? Answer: If you are not fishing in reciprocal waters ( wolf river ) then you must have a license for the state you are fishing in. confused ~Mark Last edited by woody; 07-25-09 at 03:47 PM. |

From looking at the location of the lodge, I think chances are good that we wouldnt need to get Kentucky permits. It would be a little out of the way to go up to the KY section of lake.
In my mind, we have 3 big options - G'ville, Dale Hollow and Wilson, and assuming this thing is starting to have annual regularity, we will probably hit the one that loses out this year the following year. We should keep in mind that its looking like we have to aim for the second week in April. Thats a full month earlier than the last one, so weather..keep it mind. http://www.dalehollowfishing.com/fis...nu-id-157.html

Doh...I just read this again and noticed a problem for me. I have an exam on April 16 (Friday) to get my Indiana License. Could we maybe try to make it the week after that? I'm going to need a vacation after 6 months of hard studying. I know it's very early to talk about actually scheduling, but man, I was really hoping on doing this get together properly.

Yeah, we all about died from the anticipation of the last one when we planned 4 months ahead. if we get too much done now, we'll all be dead and no one will be able to make it, lol.

fyi Yahoo Maps now has color satellite imagery of Tennessee, including Dale Hollow. Until very recently, rural tennessee had been one of the few areas I had come across online that did not have the superior color images. Good for scouting and getting a feel for the land.

Has any one tried the topographical overlay feature of Kevin's for Dale Hollow. I have yet to try it... I'm curious as to what sort of topographical detail is available.
I noticed the topographical imagery for Kentucky Lake was very limited. I'm guessing that Dale Hollow will be about the same, due to the remoteness of location. ~Mark |

I just found out Dale Hollow has some good walleye fishing. We could put this whole "which fish is the best eating?" thing to rest. We could convert Bama for sure!
Plus it would be ever so slightly closer for any Northeast guys. Just another log for the smoldering fire.
