Does anyone live here? If so have you been fishing lately? Or is it still to cold?

I don't think you'll see too many fishing reports this time of the year. However I've heard some guys are out in the Detroit river jigging for eyes. I know lakes in Northern MI still have ice on them (my parents saw two guys out on Higgins Lake yesterday ice fishing).....

Where are you at anyway? I work in Wixom and fish Kent Lake often (even though I live an hour away).

I used to live there and am in the area more often than I am at home. Opening weekend is usually pretty good on Kent, but the weather is usually bad.

I live in westland (not that far from detroit) Kent lake is only a half our away from my house. So it is probably still to early though to try for some Large mouth?

Probably not too early to try....."try" being the key word. Crawling soft baits slowly may be the way to go.

I'd say, since bass season opens the Memorial Day weekend, that Yes, it is too early to try.

I'm pretty sure some parts of Michigan have a catch-and-immediate-release season for bass that starts the last Saturday in April.

They do have an early catch and release season you're talking about... can't wait... just so i can get out on a lake in my canoe and relax... I like to catch and release with bass anyways cuz they don't grow as fast as other species... but i will eat some bluegills and crappies here and there... hoping to find some new lakes this summer maybe in the national forests... I figure If there's some nice lakes deep in the national forests where not many people fish then it should be some good fun.

Yeah catch and release opens in 14 days. I cant wait!!

I live in SE Michigan, but I haven't been out once yet. I was gonna go out this weekend and shore fish for some gills, but the weathers not gonna let me.

Yeah, I completely forgot about the C&R season, lol. Thanks for mentioning that and reminding me!

Catch and release season for Bass begins on the last Saturday in April.
Catch and keep begins on the last Saturday in May.

This past Friday I put the boat in the water and started the engine.
This morning there is snow on the ground, and a calling of from 2-4 inches possible before 1PM.

I was supposed to fish the Detroit River last week, and again tomorrow. Both events have been canceled due to weather.

Michigan, gotta love it.

Andy, sometime when you're headed to Kent give me a call. We can even take my boat this time.
