Do I still know how to fish?
Well boys, it's almost here! After 7 months not fishing at all, there's a decent chance I'll get out after some walleye or pike this weekend (season opens for both tomorrow)! The only thing that would prevent that is if the weather is really bad all weekend or if we have too much yard work to do up at the lake. We have a ton of leaves in the yard up there, so we need to get those cleaned up.
Next weekend is a trip down to IA to fish with my dad and uncle for a couple of days. I can fish for bass there since they don't have seasons on them there. The Saturday after that (5/28) is bass opener here! I have had ONE DAY of vacation from work since last October, but I plan to start burning through my accrued vacation time by staying up at the lake and fishing the whole week of Memorial Day. |

Just work on your hook set.
I went about the same length of time and blew my first two opportunities at bass this season and they were with my dreaded nemesis, the jig-n-pig. I was too eager of a beaver and the super-long period of not fishing didn't help. I look forward to reading your report. Go get 'em!

I know what ya mean about the leaves. I have a lot of hickory trees on my lot up at the cabin. I try to get them up every fall. Come spring it's a giant pain cutting the hay with all those leaves mixed in. Good luck fishing if ya get the chance.
