Have to say a 1/4 black blue Bitsy Flip with a blue Zoom salty pro chunk. Always culls the little fish outa the livewell.

JM, fear not. I threw a jig literally for years before I caught that first jig bass. Just keep chunking-you WILL get bit.

As to the original question, I'd say a Senko-type bait.

And welcome to the forum!

Rapla skitter pop'r or pop'r. Shad color or some type of blue.
Moring or afternoon. I just think I like the splash from the hit but love the top water bait.

Usually my favorite bait is the one that they hit last time..but I got to say that last year that changed to zooker's lil tip on a tenn shad.........

I throw these alot and think they go through the muck better than a trap. This has been the go too lately in red.

DT's or Lucky Craft crankbaits when the fish are aggressive. Senko's when they aren't. Colors depend on the water clarity.

I like the Bandit 200 crawdad pattern as a go to bait.

Zoom speed craws along with the Skeet Reese Lucky Craft MR in Chartruse shad. Those 2 baits have landed 3 10 pounders. Course you can never go wrong with a shiner............unless you're in a tourney.

5" berkley trick worm in The General color T rigged and a blue chrome 1/4 oz lipless crank. Both caught me fish when I couldn't seem to get anything else to bite.

Red Craw DT-10 in the spring, LC sammy in ghost minnow in summer(mornings) or a Hot Mustard DT-16 the rest of the day, Fall I go with white T-2 spinnerbait.
