Default I'm Getting Sick of DT Lips Breaking

Ok, this year, I've already broken three DT cranks. I know that's probably not many, but it's how they broke. I know they break easy in the rocks and stuff, but none of these three were in rocks or weeds, or any cover whatsoever. One came off on the first cast of the bait. I've never fished this one before, and when I cast, Iwas left with a backlash and the lip.

Anyways, I expected more from rapala, and probably won't buy any more DT crankbaits. I'll stick to the tough as nails bandits, they're cheaper too.

That sucks man all they were worth was the lesson not to buy them , are ya sure you just didn't get a few bad baits. I would send rapala an email about it and see what happens .

BB,

Look into sending them back with a your story. I bet they'll send you new ones. Sorry to hear that. One of the things I like about the DTs is their castibility. They smoke the competition in that department and they do catch fish.

Rapala completely ignored several emails about the lips breaking on the Dt10's I hope you have better luck.

One of them, after lots of arguing, I was able to exchange at BPS, but if I get more broken ones, I'll definately save them and send them to Rapala.

I've heard of this problem before regarding the lips breaking on DT's, but in all the years I've used them I've never had one break. Knock on wood. Maybe I'm not fishing them hard enough, lol. I did have one that had the lips slip out of the lure body like you did though.

BB, are you using the origionals or the flats. I have never had that problem(knock on wood) and I fish lots of rocks, but a friend broke every flat series he owns on the rocks. IB is right, they cast like no other cranks I have.

I guess technically, the lip didn't brake, but did slip outof the bait. the nose of the bait did one off with the lip though, that's why I said it broke.

One was a FAT3, one was a DT4 and one was a DT6. I have'nt had any problems so far with my DT Flats

I use 14's and 16's so I wouldn't know about the smaller ones, but no trouble yet, although I heard that the fats kind have lots of problems.

It's the side effects of their extreme obesity.

I've had several break too, enough so that I have a few stuck to my wall that I was collecting. Instead of buying and breaking more I just quit using them.

i've busted 18 two years ago...i learn to run a bead of super glue around the lip.this keeps the lip from ripping out..which is what 90% of the lips did..
