Talking Monkey Snack

So I usually don't share all of what I buy, but since it rained all day and couldn't go fishing, I had to go shopping. But I also have a question to ask, but thats for the end of the post. The goods were today in 2 categories, planned and unplanned. 1) planned- H2O swimbait, braided line (good news was dad bought the braided line since he wants to throw some a-rigs... we got some the other day) 2) unplanned- 4 packs of berkley hollow body swimbaits, 2 packs of swimbait hooks.

Now I hate most Berkely stuff, but they were on sale for $1.99 . And they are usually $8/9. So totally worth it to throw in ponds or try out in the lake (or on Bama rigs). And the swimbait hooks were on sale compared to what they usually are and I really like em for skinny dippers. Here are the pics:

Now here is the question: I dont like the color of the heads on the hooks (hence the larger picture). Should I sandpaper them off, paint over them with model paint, or just not worry bout it because its not that big of deal??? Its the only ones they had on sale, so I snatched em, but I usually use a natural color, like green pumpkin.

And how did I do?

Nice haul! As far as whether or not to change the head colors, I say sand one pack off, and keep the other. Fish em both, see which works better, and from there decide on which to do!

Sorry, I have never been impressed with most of it, even when SwimbaitKid (if yall remember him) was giving it to me for free. The chiggercraws arent terrible.

And will model paint (like for the little model cars) leave too much of a smell?

Oh, and sorry the pictures are so huge.

Nice haul. I've bought quite a few packs of those Berkley Hollow bellys too. You can't beat them for $1.99 a pack. They do have some odd colors and patterns though.

If you really wanted to, you could take the spring keepers off and buy a jar of powder paint and repaint them whatever color you wanted. I don't see why it wouldn't work over the other paint.

Oh yeah, the two colors were the only ones they had on sale. So I just went with it, they arent too terrible, pretty natural.

Good deal on those baits.

You mentioned you dont care for berkely baits. Have you ever tried just their regular 7" Power Worms?

For some reason the tequila sunrise and motor oil always seen to catch me tons of fish.

I have caught way too many fish on the mag II zoom worm. I guess I have, and always will, have more confidence in zoom baits.

That H2O sunfish swimbait looks awsome. Be sure to let us know how that works for ya. As for the swimmax jigheads in Chartruese, I bet it you rigged them with a yellow or chartruese twin tail grub, you would be having a ball swimming them over and around shallow weedbeds.

I like the looks of that sunfish myself. I'd try those hooks out before painting them. Also I need a centering pin for these bad fingers. With just the spring I have a hard time starting them. Good haul.
