Question buzzbaits?!?

Ok, I have to ask this and see what type of reply I get. I have noticed that when I am retreiving a buzzbait that mine always lay on it's side in the water, but yet when you read on them all that is talked about is how the blade should be on top and the rest hanging underwater. What gives on this? Anybody have any clue why mine might be running on it's side, or does it really matter?

I wouldn't really care about this because I am still able to catch bass on them like this, but it doesn't give me a chance to tune them and they always run to the left on retrieve. This would be fine if I wanted it to go under a dock or something that is on the left, but what if that dock is on the right of where I cast? Going to the left doesn't help on this matter.

Youll Have To Bend The Blades To Get It To Run True. To The Best Of My Knowledge There Is No Science To This Just Trial And Error. Good Luck Its Not Really That Hard.

Try either Hart, or Terminator buzzbaits, they should run true!

I have a hart and that is the one that is running sideways. I don't think anybody is picturing what I am trying to say. The buzzbait is running horizontal instead of vertical. You know, the weight isn't hanging down like a spinnerbait does, the entire thing is running lying on its side, and there is no way to bend the blades to make it run straight, I have tried bending them out and bending them in. Neither one helps.

Bend the WIRES. From what I can see, many buzzbaits lean to the side and it's annoying, even if it doesn't affect the number of strikes. Like a previous poster, I find it to be trial and error. I bend this way and that until it runs reasonably upright.

You also might be retrieving it too fast-the torque of the blade causes it to roll. Try pulling the rubber out of a rubber core sinker and crimping the lead on the bait just in front of the head. That won't effect the action but might be the ticket to a vertical retrieve.

sometimes its better to do that like if your dock cast close to the dock and it will run sideways and go under the dock and hit the supports and make a loud noise that is the only time i try to get it to run sideways.

Seems like alot of buzzbaits do what your refering to.
Cavitron, Diawa as well as Boogerman don't seem to not have this problem.
As far as going left, this is from the blade rotation. Once you get the bait to run straight up and down that problem "may" dicontunue. I don't know, havent had one run right.
I have tuned and tuned but my baits but to no avail.
Try a Cavitron,a Diawa,or a Boogerman buzzbait.

i'm tying it where I always tie buzzbaits on at. I have cut and re-tied dozens of times due to changing baits and they always run like I am explaining. Oh well, it still catches fish so i won't sorry too much about it.

You just answered you own question. So what as long as it's catching fish it doesn't matter. I buzzbait is top water bait and most of the time mine don't run perfectly true in the water either. AND I DON'T WHAT THEM TOO!!! A perfectly tuned buzzbait resembles what, a perfectly runing prey, LGM would much rather eat something that is im-perfect instead, they don't have to use as much engery to catch it!! I use one buzzbait and one buzzbait alone and that is the tried and true Lunker Lure. I have test about everyone know to man, and none of them will out perform a Lunker Lure. Remeber a bass is an opptunistic feeder, if he can catch something that is injured or looks injured all the better!!! I fish a buzzbait alot over and around grass, if I am fishing a weed line I want the bait to run to one side that way I can keep it in the strike zone longer.
