Default New PB Smallmouth!

I caught a new PB Smallie tonight, breaking my old record by 9 ounces. This one blasted a Pop-R just before sunset. It weighed 4lb 12oz and measured 19" in length with a 14.5" girth. What a great start to our weekend at the lake!

I have caught several very nice Smallies on a pop-r, including a 3lb 13oz-er last time up here, but my previous SM PB came on a super spook jr. in 2009 and was caught from our dock.

That is a pig of a smallmouth. Will she be the smallie you get a replica of, or will you wait for a 20 incher? Must have been a crazy strike on the topwater.

Waiting for a 20 incher or 5 pounder. Yeah, it was a nice explosion! It is a nice point with sand and good rocks, and I have caught several nice smallies there just before dark on a pop-r.

Caught another nice one this morning. Would have been a PB at this time yesterday (), but now becomes my new second best all-time. 4lb 4oz, 18.25" caught on a wacky-rigged 5" senko.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I will confess to a teeny tiny (ok, a lot!) of jealousy! My PB LMB is only 4.17 lbs. Hope you break it again before the weekend is out!

Nice fish (both) Dean. Sounds like the smallies like the same lures as their cousins at Dale Hollow. Did it hit the popper from below, or crash it from the side? Either way is fun with a pop-r but those sideways hits are cool.

This one was a bottom crashes, but you're right, the ones that drill it from the side are cool!

Just got back from an afternoon outing with 4 of us fishing from our 17.5' boat. A bit of a challenge at times, but we landed 17 fish total, including a 3lb 7oz and 3lb 6oz Smallies for my wife on her 5" wacky-rigged senko on a drop shot rig and a 3lb 4oz Smallie for a good friend of ours on a zoom speed worm. My best was a 2lb 14oz LM, our best of the weekend so far, on a jig & pig. Complete story and pics of those will come after we get back home.
