It's all about marketing. The recording industry is hurting, between onlone pirates and the economy in general. Billboard is one of the most respected music publications in the world. It also is a tool for the recording industries

Typical

An older act, Lets say John Cougar , is getting low in the cash dept. he will start to put an album and a tour together, before any of this is announced a corporate A and R guy will send a short story, a bio or a what ever happened to John Cougar piece to Billboard for publication
the tour is announced
Radios, in the same sequence as the tour, start palying all of Cougar hits

Its a tried and true formula, highly sucessful and going on for years

So It's Valentines Day, lots of girls seeking a romantic bribe from lots of fellas looking for , you know what

Put up the 50 sexiest songs; SIMILAR CD's with said songs ( in different combinations) are currently in stock at Wal Mart, Kmart and Target, right with all the other valentine stuff. These BBillboard lists do not happen by accident

Please tell me Olivia Newton John is NOT putting out a CD

Yea I didn't see one Brad Paisley song on there. And Ticks is probably more romantic than any of those other songs, especially the song that took the number 1. Seriously "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. My grandmother could have picked better songs in her sleep.

It was a pretty weak list. Looks like some one was too bored that day to do any thinking.

Are they gonna perform at live venues? Or straight to VH1?

My #1 pick would have been Let's Get It On, hands down. Olivia wouldn't have made the list

Where is W.A.S.P. - Animal (F*** Like a Beast)?!?!?

Seriously, Muddy just about spelled out why I gave up music. I got into it, thinking if I just worked hard enough at it, I could be famous and successful. nobody ever told me about the marketing teams, the payola, and being an industry ***** as a requirement for success.
