60 Fish Day, a Few Pictures and a short vid...

Started off the day vertical jigging in 22 feet of water. Was ghosting a shad school that I saw on my depth finder. After an hour and a half of fishing I had boated 16 fish, and foul hooked uncounted shad.

At about 9am a friend of mine finally made it out on the lake. We jigged up a few more fish. One of which was a 6 pound peacock that spit the hook at the surface.

Once the bite slowed we decided to break out the cast net. Netted about 100 shad, threw about 70 of them back. Quite a few of them were injured and fluttering on the surface. That started a freeding frenzy in which bass were blowing the shad out of the water.

All said and done we ended up with 60+ fish. About 30 of them were caught on artificials. Most averaged 2 pounds. About 4 of them were 5 pounds. One we estimated to be 7 pounds (scale battery died).

Oh man. That was some awesome footage. Nice fish too. Everytime I see something like this I remind myself that I CAN NOT wait to move out of Wisconsin. (hopefully) There may be a lot of reasons to stay, but crappy weather is definitely not one.

Buzz: Yup, best rod I own. Bought it for jigging straight up and down. It barely bends. The Abu I have attached to it on the other hand Im not very impressed by. The drag is all or nothing. If it had a middle ground I would be happy.

Lady: I agree. Normally my phone would be in dry storage. Took some convincing to get my buddy out on the lake though.

The real highlight of the day was the Peacock slightly bending the hook on my 2oz jig (its was a P-Line jig that I bought in the saltwater fishing section). When its head surfaced I stopped reeling because I couldnt believe how big it was. Wish I had pics of it, makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it.

That fish was really close to the boat. I tracked the line in my view finder from about 20 feet out. By the time it jumped it was about 6 feet out. Soaked me, and my camera (as you can see by the water on the lense).

A Canon S3. Im slowly learning that the "Action" setting really sucks for bass fishing. To much grain. Trying to dial in a good starting point for my "custom" setting which is the only one that allows you to save your settings for quick start up.

yeah that grain is called ISO noise.. action needs as much shutter speed as possible and aperature controls how much light it lets in thus how fast or slow the shutter speed needs to be. if theres a M on your dial start playing with that a little the 2.8-8number is the aperature 8.0 being as closed as it can get and the 1/250 or whatever number is your exposure.. 125th of a second

Noise is really the only problem Im having at the moment.

It has full manual controls. I havent expiramented with anything lower than 200 iso (fishing wise).

I was always under the impression that fast moving objects needed a higher ISO? Im guessing Im wrong.

Heres a question for you. In full mid day sunlight would using a iso of 80 cause the pics to blur (provided I have app/timing correct)?

the ISO allows for a faster shutter speed so the pics are blurring because the shuttter speed is too slow. having to compensate for the suggested shutter speed on P on the dial... or sports... you have to run higher ISO
