fishing dirty water
fished a local tourney tonight, first time on the lake
whole thing is about 5 feet deep or shallower water is brown/green and can only see about 1 in it(not kidding) very few weeds, thin lily and some thin cabbage, both very scattered two creeks run into it, and one runs out any tips or techniques that could help me the next time i fish it. any tip or idea is greatly appreciated. |

I've fished similar water-looks like chocolate mik. Think two things: noise/vibration and tight to cover.
My go-to bait in water like that is a spinnerbait with a big, single Colorado blade-it puts out a lot more vibration that a tandem or double willow setup. You also might throw a noisy crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap or a big, bulky jig that will move a lot of water. Like us, fish like to relate to something in low visibility. In a dark hallway we reach out for the wall as a frame of reference-fish do the same thing. They get up next to cover, so bring your bait as close to cover as possible-if you hit it so much the better. Hope this helps!

more info
well i used every kind of spinnerbait, and my partner used a few fat rap and rattle trap for awhile, he also used some dark colored texas rigged worms, with no weight(cause so shallow)
any other ideas, maybe the lake just sucks, lol |

try topwater propeller lures like a heddon torpedo. also try lizards or big plastic worms on a brass and glass rig,for sound.

I fish water like that alot around here, and I actually think it's easier to catch bass in water with very little visibility. My first bait of choice would be a big black and blue jig pitched into extremely tight cover, I'll hop it a couple of times directly in the cover and then start a very slow-medium swimming retrieve all the way back to the boat. My second choice would be a dark colored Zoom Ole Monster plastic worm fished in the same fashion as the jig.

then after you try all those suggestions and still don't catch a bass...go to a 4" red shad power worm,t-rig,1/8oz pegged weight and cast-pitch-flip it to the isolated patches and start catching bass....lol(hic)
