Default Yeah I know its a long shot

But does anybody know of ANY jobs where I can get paid to fish, or paid just to look at fish? Anybody know what gov. grants are out there that pertain to fishing. It might be a long shot, just looking for that Gov. Job that allows me to fish everyday, or at least everyother day as long as I'm in the outdoors 3-4 days a week I'm happy. I mean certainly there has to be millions and billions of companies looking for fisherman right?

After days like today, I'm thinking of a career change.

Work for the DNR. Have you ever seen that show on oln called e-force? People getting paid to drive a boat in the keys, you couldn't ask for more.

Unfortunately in my experience work always has it's bad times. But working outdoors, and enjoying your job just makes it easier some times. I don't think you get to fish near as much as people think, working for the DNR(Dept Of Natural Resources, or whatever they call it down here LOL). But it's still gotta be better than sitting in a office, and you could definately find out where the good fishing holes are. If you want to be rich though, don't think that'll work.

bass kicker:

Your right.. with most jobs with the DNR, county conservation boards, or other conservation departments the pay isn't the best. I'm currently a second year Conservation and Biology student at college me and my class mates all know that we may never have a great pay where ever we may end up. Our drive isn't money, its just the love for the outdoors and to help make it even better. I'm sure if you ask anyone in conservation they would tell you the same thing! Don't get me wrong there are good paying jobs witht he DNR and federal level jobs, but for the most part it a job in conservation is a labor of love.

Rodman Rob:
Have you ever thought about working at tackle store? The next best thing to fishing is talking about it all day and playing with new equipment!!! I have a good friend that is going to school to get his crimonology degree and he works in a tackle store and said he could work there the rest of his life!

I've got a degree in Economics. Most people think its the study of money and finances when it reality its all about Oppertunity and Efficiency. Unfortunately I've yet to find an Oppertunity in Fishing with a lot of pay. Sure would be nice if I saw an ad in the Job section of the classfieds that read something like
"Needed! Bass Fisherman! Doesn't need to be the best, just occasionally catch fish while on the water 4-10 days a week . No boss, come and go as you please, you picking where you fish. All Expenses Paid By company with FULL BENEFITS!" If yall ever see such an ad, please let me know.

RodmanRob, are you suggesting that one of us could work at a tackle store. I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it would be the equivalent of putting a crackhead in a crackhouse. If the idea is to work at a tackle store to earn money, I would be in debt. Sometimes, I force myself to avoid the tackle store because I can't control myself when I go in.
