Default do you use your smart-phone for fishing?

I was reading another thread and bookmarked a webpage that had the best fishing times of day (according to lunar cycles I assumed) on my new i-phone.

Last year a buddy used the GPS aerial satelite overlay on his phone when we got lost in a seemingly endless backwater maize on the Mississippi River.

I was wondering if their are any other apps or gadgets that you use on your smart-phone when fishing perhaps to record notes for a fishing journal, or maybe just to take pictures. Seems like there is a lot of technical potential - but I also understand the benefits of leaving the damn thing at home... it can be a leash!

I mostly use mine for weatherbug. It allows me to know if that storm on the horizon is a cell that may go around me, or if its the advance part of a squall line and my day is over. I also have google earth and a hiking app, which can help from time to time, but the weather app is the most important. My htc also has a kickass camera for a phone, which Ive actually used quite a bit.

And recently, I bought a Pantech Element tablet which is waterproof.

I have Launch Pro on my phone. Shows boat ramps and how to get to them for lakes and rivers nationwide. Wish I would have had this when I was in Florida.

I have a knot tying app that has animated knot tying of around 30 different knots. My state's fish and wildlife department also has an app that has a bunch of useful info.

I have an app called Fishing My-Cast that has a trip log, fish activity, current conditions, maps, and alerts. Costs about $6 and well worth the investment

Default This always intrigued me

http://www.techlicious.com/blog/send...waterproofing/

Now I personally don't carry my phone when fishing ever but that's just me.
But again, I don't even have a smart phone.

But it seems like a good $60 investment if I did have and did carry.

My wife has an iPhone with Google Earth and GPS. When driving and watching the satellite view it puts a blue dot where my truck is. When I pulled into my garage the blue dot was on the roof of my garage. I'm going to take her phone fishing next time I go. It will show me exactly where I'm at on the lake/river. I have a regular cell phone and always take it in my boat when fishing. You never know when you may need to call for help. Safety First. Remember when you are on the water you are in a hostile environment. You can't walk on water and you can't breathe under water.

Good question. I would like a gps map that saves waypoints. I know fish finders do that , but sometimes I fish with others..
