Aside from a high-power handgun, I think the "Rape-axe" is the next best thing. It is a hollow tube with backwards-facing needles that can only be removed surgically once "donated" to the attacker. They sell thousands of them in South Africa...the new rape capital of the world.

Well I'll be making the biggest mistake of my life by teaching my wife how to fire my new toy. Even she won't have a problem hitting anything that get's within 20' of her with it. I got the stainless steel one with the laser sight built into the handle. Noisy at crap with the .410 shells, but the recoil of the .45LC is less than the .45ACP. Winchester makes a nasty .410 load with 3 discs frollowed by buckshot - one shot deterrent that is. Here comes da Judge!

I think this is the best all time funny video example of a wife and a gun...

If you look she has her finger on the freaking trigger

I'm so thankful that "Gun Control" means hitting your target here in Texas.

TRUE STORY FROM…

“THE HOUSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER”

IN HOUSTON , TEXAS

MARCH 5th, 2009

~Last Thursday Night Around Midnight, A Woman From Houston , Texas Was Arrested, Jailed, And Charged With Manslaughter For Shooting A Man 6 Times In The Back As He Was Running Away With Her Purse. ~

The Following Monday Morning, The Woman Was Called In Front Of The
Arraignment Judge, Sworn In, And Asked To Explain Her Actions.

The Woman Replied, “I Was Standing At The Corner Bus Stop For About 15 Minutes, Waiting For The Bus To Take Me Home After Work.

I Am A Waitress At A Local Cafe… I Was There Alone, So I Had My Right Hand On My Pistol, That Was In My Purse, That Was Hung Over My Left Shoulder.

All Of A Sudden I Was Being Spun Around Hard To My Left.

As I Caught My Balance, I Saw A Man Running Away From Me With My Purse.

I Looked Down At My Right Hand And I Saw That My Fingers Were Wrapped Tightly Around My Pistol.

The Next Thing I Remember Is Saying Out Loud, ” No Way Punk! Your Not Stealing My Pay Check And Tips.”

I Raised My Right Hand, Pointed My Pistol At The Man Running Away From Me With My Purse, And Squeezed The Trigger Of My Pistol 6 Times!

When Asked By The Arraignment Judge, “Why Did You Shoot The Man 6 Times?

~The Woman Replied Under Oath, “Because, When I Pulled The Trigger The 7th Time, It Only Went Click.”

~The Woman Was Acquitted Of All Charges.

She Was Back At Work, At The Cafe, The Next Day!
That's gun control.

Bassboogie, love your Toy!

My wife recently told me she wants to start shooting. I can't wait to get her started. Never thought I'd see the day. ^5 to all of the above!

Hey Joe I really liked that. Of course I understand why Andy never let Barney have but one bullet and had to keep it in his pocket. I don't think Waco type compounds and mindsets are what is meant by the 2nd amendment. The left hates private gun ownership. The very first act of any dictator/gov. wishing to gain absolute control is to disarm the population.

I'm unfortunately not home very often when my wife is home and I don't get off work until midnight so I've got a .40 Glock loaded and ready to rock in the nightstand. I taught her how to shoot it this summer. If she can't get them with the first 16 rounds there's 5 more fully loaded mags in the drawer with it I'd still like to get her a smaller gun that is easier for her to control in her tiny hands though.

I think you're right (not about the surprise part), that looks like an old cap and ball percussion revolver. Very strange.

12 ga,short barreled rossi or hopkins and allen 20 in,match 2 1/2 dram ammo 6-7 1/2 shot, wont go thru a wall and kill anything else, whatever its pointed at in the general direction is wasted inside of 20 ft.
If you get thru my 5 dogs, then my wife you have me to contend with 9mm on a 45 frame,if you got that far doubt if the 9mm would do me much good,as certainly not human.

Bryce, that's nuttin but a noisy flame thrower. One shot inside a dark house you'll loose you night vision and your hearing. Short barrel, high powered revolvers are not known for their accuracy, but have been know to SCARE a person to death when fired - whether you hit them or not. Guaranteed the intended will need clean undies at the least. Oh, did you check the price of ammo - turn your dream into a nightmare.
Better option - only in my opinion - would be the lesser .357. This was the one I was thinking of, before the purchase of the Tarus. It's still on my want list. I like that it will fire .38 rounds for practice saving a little money.

Whatever the choice, it seems we agree on a preference for revolvers over pistols (although I have a couple Barettas), and for brand. I really LIKE the Rugers.

Ruger makes excellent revolvers. I'm looking at getting a Gemini Customs Sp101 at the first of the year, I haven't decided on the porting yet though.

Bruce, I already have a decent self-defense pistol.

The Alaskan would be just for fun.
