Default So Close....

Bass Season is soooooooo close, I just had to post. This is a list of what I plan on having tied on Opening Day. As you'd expect, water temps will be around 35 F and water should be clear. Here's what I have:

Finesse Rod - 1/8 oz D'Shot or 1/4 oz. S'Head

Spinnerbait/Jerkbait Rod - Rapala X-Rap or 1/2 oz Spinnerbait, (Slow-Rolled)

Crankin' Stick - 3/4 oz Bomber F.F. Shad

PNJ Rod - 1/4 or 3/8 oz PNJ w/ real pork trailer, (If I get to Cabela's in time... )

Flippin' Stick - 3/8 oz Canyon Plastics Tube, Junebug, 3.5"

T-Rig Rod - 3/8 oz canyon Plastics Tube, Watermelon, 3.5"

Oh... Here's a picture of me in my new Cabela's Guidewear Gor-Tex Parka/Bibs.....

Since I am using a leader on my braided rods, and using the U2U knot to connect the P.P. to mono/fluoro, will they, (the knots), cast through my guides? Mainly the last three guides because most of my leaders are only 4-6'.

i've never been one to keep up with the braid with a leader craze, i do just fine with braid alone, but have seen many on here post using other lines as a leader..I know what you mean , any knot on your line slows the cast down when it hits and passes through the eyelets.

Lunk - hope you don't mind me borrowing (stealing) part of you opening day plans... Of course, I don't have quite that many rods to set up You are gonna love that Gore tex - I actually bought mine for coaching football, 10 years ago, and it is awesome stuff!

Hey Lunk you need to send this picture off to Cabela's, you may become one of their regular models.

Good luck.

Relax - No modeling for me. See post about, "Pleaseantly Pissed".....

Bama - Those guns are mainly .22's, a couple H&R .410's, an oooooold 12 ga, a Marlin .44 Magnum Lever Action, and a BB Gun.... All my good guns, (O/U Weatherby Orion 20 ga, Ruger Red Label 12 ga, Ruger P95 9mm, Ruger S&W 40, are in cases).

Yes the knots will go through the eye easily. You won't have any problems.
Did you use a mono backing before attaching the braid to the spool?

Yes, I did, Bob. I tried to have about 80 yds of braid on my reels; plus a 4'6' leader.

LL, I'd shorten the leaders to about 2-4'

Here's what I've got set up for when we go fishing.

Finesse: Dropshot
T-Rig: Some cheapo worms I got free
Soft Jerkbait: Super Fluke
Hard Jerkbait: X-Rap or Husky Jerk
Crankin rod: Bandit 200 in Bluegill or 300 in a red crawfish like color.
PNJ (if it's built by then): BOOYAH grn pump Boo Jig.

JB gotta agree w/ ya. I just use braid, nothing attached to it. Never have a problem.

What about flippin' and pitchin' right now? With water this cold, would fish be hugging branches and wood?
