However, if it is a van you are wanting, the Econolines are top dog. 27 vans, over the past 15 years with my father's company. Only ones that made over 125k... the Econolines, 8 of them are still on the road the oldest has 254k on it. 7 GMC/Chevy's and 8 Dodges bit the dust under 125. The Chevy's gave us the most trouble of them all. One blowing an engine at 60k...

Cold air does a lot of good. Dont go cheap-o though, those cheap filters tend to restrict airflow rather than improve it. Foam= crap.

My rig is a 2000 SIlverado 5.3L ECSB. Added: HP tuners, Cold air intake, long tube headers, cat delete, shift kit, Single chamber flowmasters(dont make this mistake- really f'n loud) RV/Towing cam, Mahle lifters and 1.8 Ratio roller rockers.

If gas is up around $3 I use the 06 Xterra, that I havent done a thing to. I do prefer the truck as it makes a ton more power.

02 F350...it will probably be the last of the big trucks I buy as I am getting rid of the Bobcat here soon.

I am very happy to see that both Ford and Chevy have announced diesels for the half-ton trucks. It is about stinkin' time! Of course if diesel prices stay ahead of gas prices like they are now, I may skip it all together. If I am not dragging 10,000 pounds of machine and trailer, gas will do just fine.

01 F150 Super Crew pulls my 02 ZX250. As long as the ramp isn't too steep or wet, she pulls my bug boat right out. Gas mileage is poor to horrible. But hey, I'm going fishing and my VW Golf won't do.

1FASTLASER,
I will let you know more later, but WOT i've done 80 according to speedo with a 3 Blade, i,m about to buy a GPS just to see how close to that it's really doing, I know it's close if not higher. My last trim i think i went a little to high to fast, And it started walking so i backed off. I was only expecting around 70-75, it surprized even me, and this is a 2006 model Merc Opti the big one, it's 1/3 larger then my 91 150 Faststrike. The boat is only allowed to carry 576 lbs of cargo n crew due to the weight of the motor.

The 4L60 and 4L80 are stout trannys. I run full synthetic mobile 1 Atf and change the fluid every 15k miles-never flushed. Im at 180k miles and have had very few problems. None with the trans. I would save some pennys for a fuel pump though.

I have a 96 f150 4x4 long bed. V8, 5.0, 302. Primer on the door, mosquito control surplus(dagum truck still smells like pesticide). It's a beast, runs great, not super pretty, but decent. Don't pull the boat, just slide it in the back, put the motor on the floor, and tie it all down. Thinking about building some kind of rack so that I can just drop the boat in easier....
