If the Citica model has the HEgearing, you will not have to worry about getting "worn out."

While braid is opaque, a plus it does have is that its thinner diameter will allow your cranks to dive a bit deeper than a mono line of the same strength. It is entirely up to you. The main reason I recommended mono is because it is easier to learn with and mono suits cranks very well.

Fireline "IS NOT BRAID". It's a "FUSED" line. It is a totallty different animal then braid, with many of the same qualities however. If you use the black electrical tape tip I gave in the post"casting a country mile", you will never have to replace all your line at once due to a backlash. Just go fishing, as you can see fishing is solely about PERSONAL PREFERENCE, everyone has what they use and like, which is completely different for the next guy. Only time on the water, and your experiences will tell you what you like, and have confidence in. So go fishing, then go fishing some more, then repeat.

LL, stay away from Vanish-it is real stiff and hard to handle. On the flipside, though, I recently spooled up with Trilene Fluorocarbon. Made by the same company and so far it is the best fluoro line I have used.

Stay away from Braid with crankbaits. There is no give and you will end up ripping the hook right ouot of thier mouths. I usually fish my CB rod with 16lb Sunline Super Sniper. It's a flurocarbon and works great!!

fireline stinks on a baitcaster.you'll find that out on your first backlash.if you want braid use sufix.i'm cranking with seguar invizx flouro this year.it has some stretch but is low vis.it is also highly abrtasion resitant so it's great cranking over rocks.

Lunker Lander,

Here is my answer to your first question referenced in the second post of this thread:

12 lb. mono or copolymer My favorite line is McCoy's Mean Green but it is hard to find.

And the answer to your second question is:

Your set-up will do just fine for deep, medium, and shallow crankin. Just make sure that you use a crankbait that is made to dive to the depth you want to crank at.

Got some line today. Maxima Ultragreen 10 lb test. Super soft and limp. Good for crankin'(I hope)

Just got my new baby 'bout an hour previous to this post and took a few casts with her a few minutes ago. SHE IS AWESOME!!! She casts so smooth and has such great reeling force!!! For my first time baitcasting, I have not got one backlash - yet. Seems I may have a knack for this so called 'Bass Fishing".
